Unfortunately, SFTD has become a joke on stage since they introduced the drum loop in 89. If the boys can't handle the song without electronic assistance (and they probably can't, in all honesty) - then it's time to retire it.

Maybe the could play Red Light Women instead. I always preferred that to tumblin' Dice

Since I started this thread I've obviously been following your comments. Pretty interesting so far.

I appreciate any of the stated opinions and of course I'm aware that a song that is boring to some folks maybe still thrilling other people. Thus, I think, let's take TD only as an example for a more general topic:

Do you believe the upcoming (last???) tour will work just in the same way its predecessors have? Can you still imagine Jagger bouncing about on stage doing his gymnastics crying his lungs out for satisfaction at the beginning of his sixties? Are the vast stadium shows still adequate? Is there a need for severe changes in their setlist? Is the show itself in need of alteration?

I've been a Stones freak for decades, I've accompanied all their lows and highs, I've seen good and bad shows - but this time when I think of a next tour I just don't see they could perform it like they've always done. I feel there would have to be a change, but I'm still not sure what kind of.

Bob - I understand your point of view. But, clearly the Stones do not share it. From their standpoint - it's more like "if it ain't broke, why fix it?" They have a proven formula and track record of drawing in millions of fans and satisfying (almost all) of them. Don't expect any radical changes with the formula. Of course we'll get some new tunes from the new album - hopefully, there will be one or two "centerpiece" songs like we had with OOC and SOM from B2B tour. But, aside from that - you can be damned sure that ALL THE WARHORSES will be enlisted - most of them occuring as the buildup to the finale, as always. I would bet my last dollar on it.

Read some of the posts during the last Euro tour and you'll see the amount of complaining re warhorses and setlists.

It was relentless.

And although it was also coupled with being pointless, it didn't deter many.

It was as though some people couldn't read or just blindly chose to ignore the 40 similar (if not at times indentical) threads prior to the one they were posting that was the same as the 40 about to follow it.

My point was that there are already negative views toward the forthcoming tour and they haven't played a note yet.

As for your tix prices - you have an ally in me for those prices me lad.

Doxa baby I can hold off going for a squirt for two hours when my idols are on stage. I don't drink much or anything at all most of the time before concerts for that very reason.

Those that go for a leak during a Stones' concert should be rounded up and imprisoned for crimes against magnificent music.
And then beaten up.

ok, I´m too new in Stones hard core fan business & this board & borads on the whole. Didnt know this complainting was such a widespread & stubborn phenomenon.

Dont you people know the technique? Dont go leakin till you´ve finished your 4th beer (or 5th); if its pints it may be ok to go after 3 - 3½ pints. SOme medicine man on the board may explain why it works. There should be pleny of time

But leakin pauses is a more than curious & exciting issue speaking of the rock bands themselves. The famous petrol station pissin episode by the Stones aside; its a tricky question for the bands (and at what well-disposed time do a stage poet go and take a leak?)... I had some friends who played heavy rock in the Purple/Lizzy-school. They always placed a long drum solo in the middle of the set, so the lads could run away a while one after the other...
It was worse for the drummer.

That reminds of when Springsteen & The E Street Band played in Stockholm in 2002. During one song Little Steven left the stage and was gone for about 5-10 minutes. The newspapers assumed he had to take a major crap.

I'd be surprised if Don't Stop was played during the next Tour.....nice to hear live a few times, but boring later on.....

It's dreadful live now. Overblown horns, too much wailing backing vocals. It was a good song until it got played live on the last 3 tours. I really liuke the song on boots from the 70s but it's time it got kicked off the set list now in favour of some other Exile gems (let it loose springs to mind)

TD was a real bore during the licks tour, way too slow

The funny thing is that all the warhorses except for Midnight are mentioned above. And I agree on all your choices.

I would trade off Tumbling Dice for something never played before, BUT....Keith LOVES playing it.

I guess you´re didnt go through high school in the early 80´s...
Some of us hade disco, disco all around the ears...

We also had ALOT of disco in the late '70's that were all standards of the high school parties, some even from the Stones themselves..."Miss You", etc., and there was an awful lot of Rod Stewart..."Do You Think I'm Sexy". These, along with some of the real genuine disco nuggets..."Brick House"..."Play That Funky Music White Boy"..."Rollercoaster"...the list goes on...

Shattered was great until about 1982, after the it sounded bad. Especially using all the back up singers. I hope they don't play it during the upcoming tour because I only expect a bad version of this great song.
