My favorite female vocalist hands down is Chaka Khan. I heard her doing a version of
Satisfaction and it blew me away. I can only imagine her doing a version of Almost hear you sigh, or Slave, maybe Memory Hotel. The album could be called Stoned.

How / where did you hear that!?
I'd be very interested in hearing that one myself... (Yep; she's truely one of the Greatest.)
I did a quick Youtube-search, but nothing came up.
I don't suppose it's on any of her albums, is it?!

Here is a sample, but with the right producer and they have to keep it raw.
No slick production needed for this girl.

Rufus % Chaka Kahn were one of the warm up bans at my first Stones show 8/2/1975 Gator Bowl Jacksonville,Fl. She was damn hot, and a very good singer. Had on red leather trousers and halter with an Indian headress about 20 feet long.

Rufus was an excellent inclusion on the 75 tour. Saw then open for the Stones with Charlie Daniels Band at the Ft Collins show. Good, but very hot day that left fine memories.

A friend of mine promoted Chaka numerous times in the '80s and they became quite 'friendly,' as it were. They both shared a fondness for certain morphine based narcotics. One time my friend settled a show with her tour manager and simply hopped on the bus. We didn't see him for two weeks. He came home after the party favors ran out / and or Chaka's husband figured out what was going on.

She ALWAYS struck me as a heroin user. Just her slit eyes and overly-relaxed demeanor. Whaddya think?
