Matt attended the Crazy Horse show in Paris tonight like I did.
Cool guy. Great drummer in GNR - The Cult (beyond the good and evil is the only one I have and it is a must) velvet Revolver
He is currently making a second solo album.

Beyond Good & Evil is probably The Cult's weakest LP. It's way overcooked for the most part. Their newest one Choice Of Weapon is beyond stellar.

Yes, in terms of the songwriting. And the production is too heavy handed.

There are some great tunes on it - War, Rise, Breathe, Shape The Sky. The Saint is OK. Nico is a nice break. After that it's just too much.

I thought BORN INTO THIS was great. It has a fresh and immediate feel to it. It's not cumbersome like BG&E is.

1. Electric
2. Sonic Temple
3. Love
4. Live Marquee 1991
5. The Cult
6. Ceremony
7. Choice Of Weapon
8. Beyond Good & Evil
9. Born Into This
10. Dreamtime Live at the Lyceum
11. Dreamtime
12. Ghost Dance

I didn't count Peace or Weapon Of Choice as I consider them to be demos. And yes, I know Ghost Dance was Death Cult but it was still the same band. To me Ceremony deserves to be in the top half. Lack of promotion due to the rising grunge sh!t doomed it from the start. I guess you could say that was the beginning of the end for lots of great bands. Like the Cult, many had to claw their way back into the business. Some never did.

Peace is an album - that finally got officially released last month. Nothing demo about it. Weapon Of Choice is the initial recordings of Choice Of Weapon - not demos, just unfinished album takes. So it's a step above being a demo.

Sonic Temple floats around for me. It's got some killer tunes on it (Sun King, American Horse, NYC, Soul Asylum and Medicine Train) but I think there is much better, overall, in their discog than that album, hence why I put it so low. Ceremony, had they changed just a couple of things on that album, would be ranked much higher than it is had they done that. Production wise it blows Sonic Temple away.

They are absolutely killing it on the Electric 13 tour. It's strange to say this but this may be the best sounding and performing Cult I've ever witnessed live. Billy has somehow gotten better. Which should be impossible to say.

Good grief. He looks like he's going to do the sequel to Charlie And The Chocolate Factory!

Unfortunately, Ian's voice was shot when I saw the Cult during the Ceremony tour. I don't know if he had a cold or what.

I had great seats -- second row center -- and the couple next to me were actually SITTING after about a half-hour. You don't see that very often!

Pity. I loved both Electric & Sonic Temple.

Then Electric and Choice of Weapon (which they settled on for ORIGINAL release) are demos? Wow, talk about splitting hairs. Peace out, dude.

To this day I wonder how back in 90/91 Slash could pick this guy to replace Steven Adler.

It'd be like picking Ringo to replace Charlie Watts... eye rolling smiley

I'm gonna jump in here and do a rant in E minor on Matt (i don't deserve to be in the Hall of Fame) Sorum.

A good drummer? please... Sorum killed the GnR groove, it's swing. Not saying Steven Adler is better but Sorum sucked for that band. Hard hitting pretentious piece of blond curls... Seriously Slash made a mistake signing this loser, because Slash doesn't have very good taste in music - ask Izzy Stradlin. Inducting this poser in the rock hall of fame is like inducting the village people in the hall of fame, I mean what exactly did he do to deserve it? If he respected himself he would ve declined induction. What a fake. His playing sucks, he has obsolutely no groove or feel and he thinks his cool, maybe he is now but back in 90 and 94 his four year GnR (lets face it you would nt be asking for a picture with him after his sub par The Cult tenure) he was this annoying over the top accident. If Matt Sorum is in the Hall of fame then I could name a bunch of people that should be in man. Is Dizzy Reed in? jesuschrist ... Kiss is not in the hall of fame but Matt Sorum is - I can't believe it. And Adler bless his heart should ve played the entire hall ceremony. I am embarrassed.
