Beyond Goo & Evil is probably The Cult's weakest LP. It's way overcooked for the most part. Their newest one Choice Of Weapon is beyond stellar.

weakest
Yes, in terms of the songwriting. And the production is too heavy handed.
There are some great tunes on it - War, Rise, Breathe, Shape The Sky. The Saint is OK. Nico is a nice break. After that it's just too much.

I didn't count Peace or Weapon Of Choice as I consider them to be demos. And yes, I know Ghost Dance was Death Cult but it was still the same band. To me Ceremony deserves to be in the top half. Lack of promotion due to the rising grunge sh!t doomed it from the start. I guess you could say that was the beginning of the end for lots of great bands. Like the Cult, many had to claw their way back into the business. Some never did.

Peace is an album - that finally got officially released last month. Nothing demo about it. Weapon Of Choice is the initial recordings of Choice Of Weapon - not demos, just unfinished album takes. So it's a step above being a demo.
