It's exactly a combination of the 2 setlists played during the recent South America and Europe dates.

Here's It's Getting Better from the 1st night at the 02 on December 18 2024.

Paul's voice is now of a quivering old man. Sad.

It's obvious McCartney's voice has gone. It's audible in that live recording and loads of others. The fact that it's a phone recording has zero to do with it - audio is audio.

He's still Paul McCartney, which isn't meant to just blindly defend him, but I saw him two years ago and I truly think I'd unbiasedly judged his vocals then and I thought he sounded perfectly fine.

Saw him in 2019 in New Orleans. There were times when he was off. He's 82 years old now! Of course he can't sing like he used to. Great show regardless.

Mick went flat quite a few times last year.

Paul McCartney - Buenos Aries 2024

That's him in Buenos Aries last October. Like others have said he's 82 and of course he can't sing like he used to. But for an 82-year-old doing a 2 and 1/2 hour show, it's pretty damn good. Besides you're not going to see McCartney just for his vocals. He's a legendary songwriter, the band is tight, and the setlist is packed with some really good music. At the very least you can say you saw one of the quintessential bass players of classic rock.

exactly there's clearly enough detail in the sound on the video to hear his voice and form an opinion of how it sounds (which is not dissimilar to how it sounds on recent official releases)

i personally think he sounds fine for a singer in his 80's not everyone can have a voice that ages like tom jones

he still sounds like paul mccartney just older and that's good enough for me

$50 hard copy tickets, 1 per person, at the door, no phones. Sounds like heaven.

He could play there every night until the end of time and it would be sold out.

Goes to show they don't always have to charge $500 in a stadium.

That's what the $25 lucky dips are about!

I saw him in 2012 and his voice was shot then, so can't imagine it's improved in the interim period. With that said he was awesome, your expectations just need to be managed if he isn't hitting all the high notes anymore.

A lot of people can cope with Paul's voice declining.

I can't.

But I had the privilege to attend him in 1993 at a time when the voice was still there.

His voice is fine for his age. It was never super strong anyway.

Instead of picking holes in octogenarians let’s just be thankful they are still with us and able to deliver a pretty solid show. Savour every last moment of these gigs because time waits for no man. Macca is a lot closer to the end of his story than the beginning.

I think he likes doing concerts and being who he is. For me it’s a little bit of a drawback with the imperfect voice but I consider the overall experience which I still like. It’s got to be hard or even impossible for some people to maintain vocals to old age. Playing instruments is easier I think.

Yep

A simple comparaison between Back in the U.S. and Good Evening New York City already shows the truth.

But Paul is a showman and his energy backed by a raw band may fool a lot of people.

And things sound a little better live at the venue than on recordings.

It's really up to personal abilities.

I know some artist whose voice at 80 was not ageing too bad and some guitarists whose ability unfortunately faded earlier than others.

Each artist is a different case.

Saw him 3 times in December and there won't have been one person in those arenas who didn't enjoy it.
In these cases, the traditional newspaper reviews got it right

I contend his voice isn't what it was obviously, though it doesn't bother me as much, but comparing anything to Good Evening New York City is folly IMO. That album is heavily autotuned, for some reason because his voice was NOT bad at those shows (his original vocals are on the DVD of those shows). So just saying, that sounds like robot Paul, for some strange reason. He didn't sound that way live.

2012 I thought it was a once in a lifetime concert, first time in Van since 64. Then he came back in 2016 so I thought great, one more chance. Then 2019. 3 times in 7 years! I actually commented to the girl I went to the 2019 concert that I thought his voice was alright, despite all the negative online comments I'd read previously.
I'm hoping he comes back one last time. BC Place with the roof open like Stones last summer!

GENYC is such a weird album. It’s mixed like Paul was at a different end of the stadium to the rest of the band.

Tokyo 2013 is a much better representation of more recent McCartney, imo.
