And a belated happy birthday from me too. Seen you live twice this year - O2 show 2 and Birmingham. Looking forward to seeing you again at the Tele2 in Stockholm, where I saw some old friends of yours last year winking smiley

Long may you keep rocking sir !

Here is a warmup for the Stones from the festival in Denmark. Paul's set is over but here is a replay of about 5 songs. Just click the arrow after the link loads. Check out these girls in front of the broadcaster giggling and talking paying absolutely no attention to the show except for an occasional clap. Men take music serious but women,...well take a look and decide.

Sound is awesome though but the video is terrible.

OT Paul McCartney's voice
Posted by: swimtothemoon ()

I just saw Paul McCartney live and was shocked to hear how his voice has deteriorated. In the past he has had trouble hitting the highs but now I suspect
there must be somthing seriously wrong. This must be a very difficult situation
for him.

Age, possibly? Compounded by still performing?

I dunno. If not then it's a mystery.

I think he's not pacing himself. It seems he never stops.

Sad to hear that. Hope it was just a bad night. The guy is a great performer and when I saw him a couple years ago his singing was amazing.

I noticed a big difference too between the last two tours. Not that it was horrible. I almost wondered how he did it on the previous tour, he sort of sounded a bit closer to his age on the last one.

Yes, It seemed to happen quickly. Paul's voice was very rough on the SNL
anniversary show earlier this year. However, I thought it was because he had
just played a surprise club show the night before his SNL performance.

His tour was on the easy side, less than one show a week, probably thinking
it would protect his voice. Hopefully this voice issue is treatable.

Mick's voice on SNL in 1978 was shot.

Re: OT Paul McCartney's voice

I saw Macca in 2010, and it was a blast! A few years later, he closed out the Olympics, and he was awful. I exchanged looks to the others in the living room as we listened to his struggle through 'Hey Jude', then speculated on if he had a cold or what the issue was...during the song.

Just heard him do "Get Back" from Lollapalooza last night on YouTube. Sounded fine to me, but what do I know? None of the reviews seem to mention it other than it's a little rougher.

Plus, a scratchy voice is fine for rock and roll, in my opinion.

That was a real treat. Thanks for posting that. I doubt he was pushing himself as hard as he does during the show but his vocals are changing a bit from his glory days. Still love him and we're very lucky to still have him to enjoy.

I've also noticed his vocal struggles. At times his voice sounds frail, and I am thinking that a combination of age and use have created the problem. His Olympics performance was sad and made me cringe a bit. He also is noticibly flat in his pitch. Yet, when I saw him 2 years ago in Seattle, he sounded fine and Nailed Long Tall Sally. God bless him, he leaves it all out there for his fans every time he performs, warts and all. We're fortunate that he still tirelessly performs.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: for some reason his TV appearances in the last like 10 years have consistently been THE WORST. Like, I don't know why, but SNL, the Olympics, they just always happen to catch him at a time when he sounds terrible. And its misleading because he actually sounds GREAT live most of the time.

I'll explain. One of the few TV appearances he did where he sounded great was Letterman on top of the Marquee. He sounded amazing, and it actually made me see him live at the whole Citi Field thing (I was thinking about skipping it, but saw him and said "god he sounds awesome. I now have to go."). I went and he was outstanding. A few years later I saw him on SNL at Christmas and he sounded HORRIBLE. I thought "wow, lucky me that I caught him right before he lost it!" He played Yankee Stadium 6 months later, and very luckily my friend got us free tickets. I said "he sounds horrible, don't expect much", and he blew us away. Its like the SNL thing never happened.

Very weird how thats been consistent, but I've always slagged it off cause I've seen him live and that bad voice just apparently goes away. Sad, but understandable, if its finally caught up to him and reached his regular shows. I haven't seen him since Yankee Stadium. But his voice has been great the past 5 years. I was actually really upset when they released the Citi Field shows on CD, because he sounded amazing there and they autotuned him to sound like a robot. Completely ruined the already great performance he put on. Never understood why they did that.

I think the voice problems are less noticeable on the rockers. The aging
process is no fun. He's a living legend and still a great performer.

Saw him at the O2 back in May, he struggled with Maybe I'm Amazed and Paperback Writer but apart from that his voice was strong. Superb performance!

Dare anyone mention that Mick's voice is not what it was?
