Can McCartney really be this popular, to the point of there being no f f f f furking tickets to be had for any of his European gigs whatsoever. Absolutely everything appears to be mega sold out ! I don't know if it genuinely is of course, perhaps the scalpers have hoovered everything up, but there is precisely furk all for sale on the on the TM resale site. I know what people are gonna say about TM, but I'm buggered if I'm going to take an interest in the likes of Viagogo, Stubhub, Gigsberg, to mention but a few of the worst offenders.

A third party wants to join my friend and I (who were lucky enough to get tickets), so if anyone either has a spare for the Madrid show on 10th December, or knows someone who has, could you post it here and/or drop me an email, my address is not hidden.

Thank you

Here are my thoughts on why it is so difficult to get face value tickets for these Euro / UK shows:

The main reason is demand. If you look at his touring schedule over the last few years, you will see that he performs many more shows in North and South America, and often in stadiums that hold upwards of 40,000 people, compared to Europe. Last year he performed more concerts in Brazil than Taylor Swift. Amongst the Brazil shows he performed three nights at Allianz Parque stadium in São Paulo, which holds around 50,000 people. He just played another two nights at the same venue, less than 12 months later. All completely sold out. Compare this to the U.K: This year he is playing four shows at arena-size venues. The last time he toured the UK was six years ago, and again he played in arenas and did just three shows, including one single night at the O2 in London. He just doesn't play here as often as he does in the Americas, and due to the time of year, the venues available / suitable are arenas and not stadiums. This simply means that the demand easily outstrips the supply of tickets available.

I guess you're right Andy, one cannot argue with the numbers you cite ! Extraordinary really ! I guess our friend will just have to come along with us to the venue a tad earlier than we might otherwise go, and see who's selling what outside the venue. Risky, but it seems there's little in the way of alternative options. Perhaps late late late in the day a few things might start popping up on the TM (resale) site ?

Certainly Viagogo got a large block of tickets. They were on there soon after the “immediate” sellout. I’m thinking about waiting outside myself but Spain is not like Germany and France where there’s a lot of people selling tickets outside. Only saving grace is there’s two concerts. Fingers crossed.

Is that so ? I had no idea. So do you think there will be people selling outside, or unlikely ? I am not going down the Viagogo, Stubhub, Gigsberg road. I do not trust any of these organizations, and the level of stress introduced by dealing with them, usually precipitated by having to wait until the very last moment to take delivery of whatever you've bought - is just something most of us can do without these days. I know that I personally have no f***ing patience for it !

paulywaul, I understand your position. Actually it's my first time buying from Viagogo, and I never wanted to. I had a friend tell me it worked fine so I'm taking the leap of faith. I don't want to scare you or anyone but the few concerts I saw in Spain I don't remember seeing scalpers. Maybe it's changed so I don't want to mislead anyone. Also, here in Portugal (I'm new) asked about waiting for Rod Stewart tix (because there's nothing going on here) and the guys in the record store said buy them now or I'm not getting in. I think Germany, France and Holland and maybe some other EU countries do things differently. Good luck, maybe see you outside trying to get in, lol.

Yes, thanks.

I and my friend are OK, I got lucky and managed to get great seats (two) within minutes of them going on sale. But now a friend of ours wants to joins us, hence I'm seeing if I can help him out by sourcing a ticket for him, that's all !

Two things are quite extraordinary - firstly that he still seems to be so incredibly popular in North & South America (in Brazil he has sold more concert tickets than any other International act, including The Stones) and secondly that he does not play in The U.K more often. It could be for any number of reasons. The U.K press has been quite harsh on him at certain times over the years, the audiences in South America are generally acknowledged to be some of the most enthusiastic on the planet, and the U.S is probably the most lucrative market for him on the planet.

On the other hand is it really that surprising at all that he is so popular? He is a Beatle, one of only two remaining, and the only one that performs a large amount of the catalogue live in concert. People love nostalgia, and the younger generation find it easier than ever to discover The Beatles, thanks to the internet, social media etc.

It would be great if he could do a series of outdoor / stadium shows over here next summer, but I'm not going to hold my breath...

Could be like a 'slice by slice'. Currently UK, France, Spain. Then maybe as next BeNeLux, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy. After that probably Scandinavia and Eastern Europe.

Maybe he's starting with France & Spain in December 2024, and the rest of Europe and Scandinavia will follow in 2025 ?

For anyone still hoping to attend a UK show, on those oh so lovely secondary sites, prices for the 2 London shows, though still above face, are cheaper than the Manchester shows, which surprises me. I had planned to last minute the Manchester shows but think I'll try for London instead.

Has anybody got experience of using this website ? SEATSNET ?

It appears to be a German site. I have been reading Trustpilot reviews in English and in Polish, and they are almost all universally bad. But I am just wondering if anyone has had a positive experience ? Seems to me that they're a German Viagogo ...

Second to the above, I have another question. These days, with more and more paperless tickets, how the f**k is the transfer of the ticket from the original purchaser (whoever they are) to you (the new purchaser) actually accomplished ?

I have read/heard horror stories about barcodes (when scanned at the venue) not working or venues refusing entry and insisting that the purchased ticket was fraudulent or invalid ?

Looks highly questionable. In other words - fraudulent ! I will advise my colleague who is looking for a ticket to not consider it at all !

This should be done by the fan-to-fan sales services of e.g. Ticketmaster or Eventim.

I think the sellers are operating the same way as on eBay, in other words positive reviews keep them in business. Certainly they would be able to sell the same ticket over and over but their reputation would be ruined. That's my perspective. But yeah, I really don't feel comfortable doing this myself. It's a giant leap of faith that could be very costly. Let's hope for the best I suppose.

I went with STUBHUB in the end and have just bought a ticket for around 200 EUROS, which is about as cheap as a McCartney ticket gets these days ! Furk knows what the face value is/was, but my friend who was getting really stressed about not having a ticket was happy with that price. So, lets hope the "electronic transfer" of the ticket to my Android phone works as STUBHUB tells me it should ...........

This reminds me I'm seeing Macca again next Wednesday ! Pretty exciting, it's too bad there's so little new since 2009 and the John and George homages are the same as in 2002, Here Today I can see why, but Something ? To tell the ukes story ? What about HCTS or ATMP ? Let's hope we don't get the Hendrix one about Pepper before "Let Me Roll It" ! Oh well...my fault for going back, again and again and again ;-)

Yes, lately Paul has not added anything except Now And Then. Used to add at least 2 new songs a tour. Maybe he likes everything as is, there's a good flow to it.

I suppose so, still a majority in the audience seeing him for the first time I'm guessing and those who keep going back will still manage to enjoy it so...

There was a severe railway accident between Cologne and Aachen. As a result, the railway line is partly unusable. See: [www.DeutscheBahn.com] , [www.Bahn.de] , [www.Eurostar.com] .

some trains are running, others not (mine for example). But the accident occured already on Friday but Eurostar informed me just this morning.
Since I was informed so late all all alternative trains had already fully booked.

Looks like one of the two tracks is still usable, but the repairs will take some time - [www.Rundschau-Online.de] .

Eurostar writes in the above link: "We had to make changes to the timetable until Saturday, 14 December, as repair work has to be carried out on the high-speed line between Cologne and Aachen."
