I first saw Paul in 1988 at the UC Berkeley football stadium.

Paul didn’t tour in 1988.
1990?

Possibly. It's been a long time. In any case, he isn't a good act to see in a large outdoor venue. He has the pyrotechnics on "Live and Let Die" and that's about it. Songs like "Blackbird" don't carry well.

That sounds like someone who just wants to go to a circus -- to see fireworks, hear lots of noise, etc., rather than a real fan of music.

Trust me, as someone who has seen his show in a large outdoor venue, songs like Blackbird and Yesterday are iconic and carry plenty of weight, more so than most music that's been recorded since -- by anyone!

I happen to love Egypt Station: he has hit a rich seam of albums since Flaming Pie at least.

I know the voice isn't that great, but he's better than Dylan. Dylan sounds like a fly in a jar at times, albeit Dylan's seam of albums from Time Out of Mind to Shadows In The Night were better.

Dylan is Dylan.
Never sang properly, his talent is elsewhere, but his voice is characteristic.
Macca has a weakining voice and is said to use Auto-tune since quite a while already.

The Get Back tour was in ‘89-‘90 and I think the Berkeley show was in ‘90.

I may get beaten for this but i have a wistful missing of the inventiveness of ADITL & Abbey Road era ringo inventive drumming crossed with some of the rhythmical patterns of pet sounds.Interesting album but wish the production was a more 'live' dynamic in the more modular type songs in particular, sounds a little too flat layered?

By the way the new album is great. If only the Stones would invest the time and care to make an album.

Macca's willingness to keep making new music is a big credit to him.

Didn't pay close attention when the tour was announced, but didn't realize he was playing in arenas vs. stadiums.
If he does come to the SoCal area, I might have a change of heart and go see him again - always an amazing setlist (30+ songs or more), and a living legend. thumbs up

I'm there if he plays indoors...here's hoping for the Forum, but I'm guessing it would be Staples.

I haven't thoroughly checked, but I think Paul is playing cities that didn't play on his last tour in 2016.

Vancouver(x2), Seattle, and Portland were all in 2016. Vancouver shows weren't even sold out, and tix were below face on Stubhub.

So I wouldn't expect pnw dates anytime soon. Grab a return flight to Edmonton for $100 or so instead.

I've noticed the similarities as well. Apparently Paul's artwork is from 1988, but still strikingly similar to his former bandmate's.

As for his touring plans, if you haven't seen him in a while you definitely should. He's still an excellent show and the setlist has something for all fans. I've only seen him outdoors and he stormed New York last September and I skipped all of them. Seen him twice and just too expensive, and he's not usually one you can just find a ticket for. I'll live but slightly regret it, since he'll only be around for so much longer and it is one night of super super fun. And I assume its even better indoors, even though he's one of the few I actually think pulls off the outdoor thing really well. My point being, he's one of very few I'd say you should basically try and catch anytime he's in town. When you're in the mood, there's nothing like some good old fashion fun Paul.

This is nothing new.

I recall reading about the group thing in one of those latter day Beatles biographies, sometime in the 2000s -- it may even have been in the Howard Sounes bio on McCartney, but I can't quite recall at this distance...

Some pretty crazy stuff in there -- it seems his former wife Heather had to save him from drowning at home in his bathtub one night when he was drunk.

At least she turned out to be good for something.

It’s going to be very close between Macca + Eminem for the #1 spot. McCartney’s Egypt Station will easily be the #1 album in pure sales.

Man, I love Sir Paul, and have been a fan since the Beatles first came on the scene. Have seen him 4 or 5 times, as well as with The Beatles. I watched the videos of the Grand Central Station show, and I have to say that it is painful for me to now listen to him sing. He sounds quite elderly. He looks great, plays great and puts on a helluva show. But "elderly" is the only word I can find to describe what I hear. His band carries him vocally. There are some songs on which he sounds OK, but overall it breaks my heart. God bless him for touring, for keeping out there for his fans. If you've seen his shows, you KNOW that he leaves it all out there on the stage, never short changing the fans. It is amazing. I began to notice his voice deterioration when he sang at the opening of the 2012 Olympic games. I was surprised at how difficult it was to reach some of the higher-range notes. Since then, it has gotten worse. It happens to us all, it is the way of life. But he is determined to keep going. I applaud him for that. The praise I have for him would far outweigh the criticism. Actually, it is NOT criticism, it is a personal observation, one with which many would disagree. But, when all is said and done, next time he comes to Seattle, I would go to the show. The whole of the show covers a multitude of vocal sins.

Just listened to the White Album tonight. @#$%&, its amazing that he wasn't even 27 when that album came out. He's my age and by The White Album he seems like he should be like 40! Thats nuts that at 26 he's writing that many incredible god damn songs. Seriously, what a talent they were. The fact that any of them are still going today is nuts. Would have been so easy for them to lose their heads at such a young age.

There's a lot of great songs he's played in the last 10 years that haven't had an official release:

1. Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da
2. Junior's Farm
3. Hi, Hi, Hi
4. Temporary Secretary
5. Nineteen Hundred And Eighty-Five
6. Being For The Benefit Of Mr. Kite
7. In Spite Of All The Danger
8. Letting Go
9. All Together Now
10. Lovely Rita
11. A Hard Day's Night
12. Eight Days A Week
13. Love Me Do
14. Two Of Us
15. The Night Before
16. I'm Looking Through You
17. One After 909

Its nuts! And that would be a more refreshing disc than just another full show, good as they are. But we have enough versions of 75% of those songs.
