When I played in the US for he first time, in NYC, we played the very same club where Bruce made his NYC-debut. The poster was still on the wall: Bruce Springstein
I think it's still there. Kenny's Castaways on Bleecker Street.

Bruce played at their first location before they moved to Bleeker. I played there (Bleeker St.) a few times as well. Unfortunately they closed in 2012.

If you haven't seen him live since 2005, not sure how you can fully form an opinion on his shows of today, but your opinion is respected nevertheless.

Videos (official and otherwise)...audio...first-hand accounts from friends and relatives who've attended the shows...etc. It's not difficult to form an opinion in this modern age where most everything is filmed and recorded.
His voice has certainly weakened in recent years (more noticeable on certain songs than others), but he can still play and is able to bring it every night. My biggest regret in not seeing him for over a decade is the new setlist entries from tour to tour...from the most recent setlist alone, there are a dozen songs I've never heard him play live before - and that's not including countless others from previous tours since 2005.

Question to anyone: at the full two shows I last saw him, I recall him telling a story about Jimi Hendrix, and not sure of what song he played or was about to play...looking at the setlist now still can't figure it out. Does anyone know what I'm referring to, and wondering if he still tells the same story during the current shows?

They do an instrumental jam of "Foxy Lady" at the end of "Let Me Roll It."

It's listed in the original setlist I posted at the beginning of the thread. When I saw him in Buffalo in October 2015, if I recall correctly, he told the story about how Hendrix played Sgt. Pepper at his show in London only two days after it was released on album.

Yeah, that's the story I heard at Dodger stadium and later at Desert Trip...interesting to hear the first time, but kind of lost some it's charm and appeal hearing it again verbatim.

Marathon setlist, but having seen him a few times in the last five years (Desert Trip being the most recent) I could only last for about a third of it. Love Paul (especially with the Beatles), but there's only so much one can take!
But let's see...40 songs vs. 20 from another great and currently touring band...the man knows how to put on a show and keep his fans happy!
I almost saw him in 2014, but I had to travel for work and had to eat the cost of my ticket. SO pissed.
Obviously it's stupid to put off seeing him given that he's 75...maybe next year, as he'll almost certainly come round the States once again.
Hmm, he's playing Brooklyn Thursday night and Long Island twice next week...very tempting but I can't take much more time off work than I already have.

He is fantastic! If you haven't seen him before it is definitely a good show to go to. However, I have seen him a lot in the last 10 years and his show needs a make-over. For the most part he tells the same stories verbatim.Exactly the same. And his core show hasn't changed. With the same ending. He does change four or five songs every tour, but he should mix it up even more for the amount of times he is touring. I am a big fan, however, with his current shows I am done. I am happy with what I saw. And he put on probably the best show I have ever seen quite a while ago, in Salt Lake City. Sublime.
pick me up I'm right here in BuffaloQuote

He is playing in Syracuse on Saturday in the dome. I checked StubHub and lots of tickets available from $50 to $200. I'm thinking about it.

Do you "Nah, Nah, Nah" when he conducts all the boys and girls?

Valid points.
Imagine if Mick were to hire a bunch of young whippersnapper studio musicians and tour the world playing his solo material and a bunch of Stones songs. That's pretty much a McCartney show - many people enjoy it (and it is a bit enjoyable), but it's all a bit sterile due to his backing band/studio musicians. Highly skilled indeed, but maybe too much so...you'll never hear a mistake or any form of improvization.
We got a glimpse of that on SNL [youtu.be] and it was amazing !

But that reminds me of a mid -'80s Genesis concert I went to at Dodger stadium with my older sister and her friends who had given me a free ticket. At one point Phil Collins conducted an extended sing and clap along to whatever song they were playing (maybe Invisible Touch). "Hands in the air, stand up, clap with me, sing the words if you know them", etc.etc. Those who didn't fully participate - and there were thousand of us - were berated and reprimanded by Phil. "You people sitting and not participating just think you're too cool - you're spoiling the fun for everybody else" - what a dick!!! While it might have been partially tongue-in-cheek, he wouldn't stop the scolding for about five minutes. I didn't really like that era of Genesis to begin with, or the idea of ever seeing them live (even with a free ticket!), but I left that show thinking that was one of the worst concerts I've ever been to, and still feel that way!

Funny how one can have a totally opposite memory...I was at the same show (it was May 1987) and I distinctly remember it being very tongue and cheek, with the audience laughing at Phil's "scolding" - including a close-up of him on the big screen looking "disapprovingly" at the audience, with a telling smirk. It was his shtick at the time during the very long Invisible Touch tour. He wasn't being serious at all...but, who knows, maybe I'm misremembering!
I think we traveled in a lot of the same concert circles growing up, my Westside brother!

Perhaps your memory is better Jah Paul or we just experienced it in a different way, and while I did say it might have been "partially tongue-in-cheek", it was cringeworthy for someone like me who didn't really want to be there in the first place! Like going to a bad theatrical play with my parents...or to a dog show with my Grandma lol...I was squirming in my seat wanting to be anywhere else but there. Shtick or not, I was in no mood to play Phils's little games, I was just too cool for that! And truth be told I do like some of those '80's hits for nostalgia reasons, but seeing them live was something I could have happily lived without!

I could see it being annoying if you didn't want to be there, that's for sure! I was an odd Genesis fan...one who actually liked both eras (Gabriel and Collins) - although I could do without stuff like "Tonight Tonight Tonight" and "Invisible Touch." Lamentably never got to see them with Gabriel.

Paul has played Vancouver 3 times in the past several years and all three times he's played Mull of Kintyre with a local police pipe band coming out on stage. I believe he plays this at most if not all concerts in Canada but not very often in the States?
