cool... they are really doing well at picking up on what is popular online and using it to market this album/tour

Doesn't seem to have any lyrics other than the title. Sounds good, though.

Well the embryonic state of it puzzles me a bit. If they put out this, why not Travlin' Man and Potted Shrimp?

Some would argue because the finished version is already out. But I agree - this is a slap in the face to those excellent unfinished tracks from the SG sessions as well.

One can only hope that a fair degree of greed held them for putting out anything 'new' and they're planning on a Tattoo You II set with newer versions of songs finished a la Plundered My Soul.

I wouldn't hold my breath for that. Do they have any record contract obligations left to fulfill?

Well you're probably right, but we know there are lots of tracks that exist. They must have some knowledge of them. Why wouldn't they release them.

Either they have other plans, or they could care less. If someone has another alternative for why these aren't released I'd like to hear it.

I think they couldn't care less, actually...

I think that's the most plausible explanation as well.

The songs on the SG-bonus disc were also widely known before. They chose them anyway because they fit the SG-context, same with Exile. So there's no better
context for said numbers than the SF-reissue. They're only gonna get so many
chances at rererereleasing their classics and nobody is interested in another
carelessly thrown together package like Rarities 1971-2003.

And why on earth didn't they include the brilliant Sticky Fingers - (US promo) mono version in this Deluxe release?

Because it's a folddown from the stereo version. No dedicated mono mix exist of these songs, except for Brown Sugar, Bitch and Sway.

Quite interesting that Jagger dates the recording of the alternate "Brown Sugar" with E.C. from this new super loud deluxe edition of "Sticky Fingers" before the Muscle Shoals session!

Shorter. Only 1 verse. No extended jam at the end. The guitar sound is similar to the All Down The Line bonus track on the deluxe EOMS.

Yep that guitar sound indeed, I like it! Strange that it never made its way on an official recording. Taylor's "noodling" is pretty good too, reminds me of the live DF, too bad it got "lost".

Same with the review.

How tiring. It wouldn't take much to find out it was recorded at the end of 1970 but, ha ha, why bother doing research on something when Jagger, who can't remember shitall about what song is on what album usually, gives you a "fact"?

This Clapton comment really doesn't make any sense. From where should the track appear?

12-18-70. Jagger at least got the studio correct.

The story that they just made up the instrumental part on the spot is just folklore of course. The change to Dminor, the chording and especialy the end riff all are very much worked through and arranged.

Mathijs

I've always had that suspicion myself. The last section (less possibly there was alot of overdubbing done) had to be worked out in advance.

Knowing that time and their work it certainly seems reasonable it was a bit of both a loose jam, and them adding some magic production dust after the fact. They work that way so often for so much of their best stuff. You can hear the genesis of the sax jam off George Harrison's All Things Must Pass Apple Jam, on Out of the Blue, where the jam sounds so much like CYHMK! Great historical reference. I mean there has to be so much more gems they have at their disposal, this hadn't ever been featured on any boots, and so much of Tattoo You as well didn't surface until much later. I am sure they are holding back. Certainly the live stuff as well.

This is good.

the CYHMK outake is great...but...how much are you going to listen to it?
I love outtakes..but I tend not to re-listen to them that often.

The date about clapton is a joke...it is definitely after the released version.

BTW - anyone think a bit of the CYHMK (outtake) has a bit of monteal rehearsal about it??? The instrumental song they do..

In 1971 money? Twenty bucks could get you in the VIP section next to Tony Sanchez.
