Celebrating Charlie Watts is a series of three nights, six shows, featuring touring Rolling Stones musicians Tim Ries, Bernard Fowler and Darryl Jones, and special guests, at the Blue Note Jazz Club, New York, NY, USA August 29-31.

Charlie loved to sit in with Tim Ries and his Rolling Stones project shows on the drums at times, these shows at the Blue Note in NYC will for sure be a great celebration of Charlie Watts.

Dammit all!! I have been homebound for 2+ years now, and wouldn't ya know, the ONLY trip that I have booked for work is the last week of August!?!?!? UGH. I would have LOVED to have gone to one of these gigs!!!!

Nope, that would be David Gilmour. David Gilmore is a jazz guitarist.

Tim Ries Quartet will be performing an evening of music by the great Sonny Rollins on February 9th, at Drom in New York City.

Also, there will be one song that is not a Sonny composition but a Jagger/Richards song: Waiting on a Friend that Sonny recorded with the Stones.

The 2019 show at this venue was amazing!

Tim Ries will be touring with The Rolling Stones during their Hackney Diamonds Tour '24 in USA & Canada. Like in the past, Tim will be performing with his own band between Stones show dates, typically the day after the date of the Stones show in some cities.

Charlie Watts loved to sit in with Tim at several of the Tim Ries shows, being a jazz fan himself. The Tim Ries shows were often named "The Rolling Stones Project", as they did Stones songs with a jazz twist. Now they tour as Band2, the name of the backing band of The Rolling Stones.

The Tim Ries shows this summer are made in the memory of Charlie Watts, as most fans couldn’t be in NYC at the Blue Note, when Tim and his band did the Charlie Watts tribute.

So far there are four dates confirmed, while they are working on one to two more shows:

Wednesday May 8th-MIM in Phoenix, AZ
Featuring Bernard Fowler, Darryl Jones, Chuck Leavell, Tim Ries and local artists Lewis Nash on drums and Stan Sorenson on guitar

Friday May 24th-Aman Hotel Jazz Club in NYC
Featuring Bernard Fowler, Darryl Jones, Tim Ries, and local artists Jeff Tain Watts on drums, Gary Versace on piano and organ and David Gilmore on guitar. This is the same band who played the tribute to Charlie 2 summers ago.

Highlights?

Last time I saw Tim Ries was when he and the band played during the week of the London shows at the O2. I enjoyed his concert very much. Lisa sang in a guest spot toward the end.

I was there at the very nice and expensive nightclub . It is a club 2 stories Down wit a secret entrence .Darryl, Tim , Bernard and the Young woman Singer was playing beutiful. First there were a jazz trio with a fantastic Australian Singer called Olivia . In my mind she is the best jazzsinger I ever heard. After a Long Long while (1 hour) the Tim Ries played a Little more than an hour. Bernard F. was brilliant. I have som pictures and video , but I do not know how to put it on This iorr HomePage. I thought the show was great. So cool to see these songs done in this style. Wondering if there is a chance they will perform in LA.
