We went to hear LIVE MUSIC in the East Village in NYC this past weekend!

There were only around 25 or 30 people in the intimate and windowless basement club. My wife and I are both vaccinated, but we still often wear masks indoors - were shown to a small, socially-distanced table near the bar. Tim came over and said hello, before he sat down at the bar with one of his bandmates. We sat down, took off our masks and ordered food and drinks from the masked waiter.

When Tim took the stage, it seemed like he was speaking for everyone when he said how amazing and exhilarating it felt, after a sixteen months of pandemic isolation, to finally be among people playing in an intimate enclosed setting like this club, drom. I must agree... having been vaccinated myself, along with my wife and family, it felt so nice to finally be able to enjoy a nice evening out together enjoying some good food and music.

Such a small world... Tim is a member of my temple in NJ where he has played on numerous occasions. He's a very nice guy, and oh yeah... he also tours and plays with the Rolling Stones!!! Small world!?!?

The show was in my old neighborhood... where I found a free parking spot on the street... literally across the street from my old apartment building at 5th Street and Avenue A, before we walked up Avenue A to drom.

Thanks for the review and audio clip from Drom.
Unfortunately I did not go last night.
The weather was too nice and I could not get away from an earlier party in Bklyn.

Never been to one of his gigs or met Tim Ries to have a chat with ,but I do remember a couple of times in London and New York 2003 I think it was ,seeing him close up talking to a truly nice geezer and Stones fan.

That was the late, great ,Tony Dunn who was so helpful in getting some of us into hospitality among other things. thumbs up

Will have to make an effort to see him play at the next Tim gigs, in between Stones shows on the next Tour.smileys with beer

And you didn't ask him about the upcoming STONES TOUR??!!

He's a nice guy, I've seen his group in New York, London and Chicago and spoken with him after or between Stones shows a couple of times. I also went to hang out in the outer bar area of the Dazzle night club in Denver where they were playing when I couldn't get tickets, but you could hang out in the adjacent bar area. The advantage to that was that Ronnie also was out there along with one of his sons. Ronnie had a bodyguard with him, so we befriended his son and he went to Ronnie and got autographs for us.

I saw Tim Reis play at a club in upstate New York a few weeks ago and I asked him about the postponed Stones tour. He said he hadn't heard from them yet but he is ready to go on the road and hopeful the tour will happen this year.

Celebrating Charlie Watts is a series of three nights, six shows, featuring touring Rolling Stones musicians Tim Ries, Bernard Fowler and Darryl Jones, and special guests, at the Blue Note Jazz Club, New York, NY, USA August 29-31.

Charlie loved to sit in with Tim Ries and his Rolling Stones project shows on the drums at times, these shows at the Blue Note in NYC will for sure be a great celebration of Charlie Watts.
