Great album track.

Never would have worked live.

I think it's called "Shake Your Hips" (written by Slim Harpo).

It's actually called both on my vinyl copy.

Too much of a loose jam to work as a show song.

The folks around her would love it [especially perhaps with all three guitar players]...but it wouldn't please the typical paying paying punter very much.

Yep - couldn't agree more. Another one that would do that is Hide Your Love. Great call and response with the crowd.

No, just rehearsed in Dallas 1972.

And at the Rotterdam 1975 rehearsals, and at the Woodstock rehearsals in 1978, the latter with great slidework by Wood.

If they played the song like the album track then it's a single subdued 3 minute long riff with little dynamics.

I don't think it work unless they built it up as it went on with increasing crash and thud and a manly Muddy Waters "yeah..." thrown in.

I like the album track though.

I enjoy as well listening the boot " Tropical Disease " Shake Your Hips track-1970-10-17 Olympic Sound Studios London, Studio Session.

Live it would rock the place.

During the Exile rerelease promotions, the Roots played a blinding version on Jimmy Fallon.

Think this would be pretty cool live. Groove potential huge.

Groove potential absolutley enormous !...but this song would just never get on any shorlist of good ideas or popular requests.

I certainly wouldn't fancy the chances of any IORR campaign to get it played.

Sway or CYHMK... it ain't ;^)

I know. Another one that I've never heard a live one of is Soul Survivor. Don't know why that song has never got the props its deserved. Maybe if Keith ever does another solo tour. Really loved his version on the Exile outtakes.

It was the same backing track, with Keith making up lyrics and melody there and then. A nice document on how the Stones sometimes make music, but hardly a version, imo.

Hip Shake has a tremendous potential live, imo. Guitar weaving on and off, the harp, Charlie controlling the dynamics by alternating rim shots and full drive. The sky is the limit, if you like this kind of blues, which I do - very much! thumbs up

I cant envisage it working anything other than brilliantly, to be honest.

For myself...I agree 100%

But it would be appreciated by too few in the audience

You may be right, but then again Back Of My Hand was very popular on the BB-tour, so who knows?

This song doesn't fit in their actual setlist dramaturgy.
So they'll never bring it on stage...sad smiley

Would have been a great B-stage song, with the band closer together and leaner.

Absolutely. I thought Mannish Boy worked greatly on the B-stage on the Licks Tour.

Now - Maybe.

Back then - no.

then again, sometimes audiences can be musically educated by the performer. If the music and performance is good enough.

Surely even Stones audiences arent that far beyond redemption.

There are some folks on these pages beyond redemption...let alone amongst the wider audience !

But I take your optimistic point winking smiley
