I like them all.

Mick for his epic performance and songwriting-abilities.
Keith for his epic guitar riffs and songwriting-abilities.
Charlie for being Charlie and nothing else.
Ronnie for his down-to-earth persona and the way he saved the Stones in the 70's.
Bill for his memorable bass lines and his ability to write down history.
Mick T. for his guitar skills and the way he bought a new sound into the band.
Brian for his musicianship on many instruments and for having started the Stones.
Stu for his boogie woogie piano.

And to a lesser extent:
Darryl for keeping a low profile and how to handle the giants.
Nicky Hopkins for his lyrical playing.
Jimmy Miller for having bought out the best in the Stones.
Andrew for his original way of advertising the band.
Bobby Keys for his sax solos.

I love 'em all myself...but my fave was, is, and will ALWAYS be ... Brian Jones

I truly love all of them... You know, each of them has a different energy and that gives a magical combination to the band!

If you had to choose, i think that Keith is the coolest winking smiley

I really like Bill Wiemanan's attitude, which somewhat reminds me of George Harrisons... Even though as a "fan" who naturally wish "his" group would keep the ideal set forever I would not like his "Had enough of being a RS and thats that" attitude. Since reading some interviews with him (or seeing them) I came to think he is most likely, out of all "7 stones", to be a person I could have had a long chat with. But then I'm quite a "Conservatists" (Did I made up this word?) so Bill would be the best candidate anyway.

Obviously like Charlie and Ronnie since they are, well.... How did and elderly English woman said to her friend just behind me at HP when Charlie was presented by MJ? "he is the most descent and down to earth person in show business". Looks as if Ronnie Wood is some different version of the same thing.

Always regarded Keith and Mick the same way I looked at John Lennon - people who gave me endless moments of pleasure but most likely would have never been "my mates".

Used to think very high about MT (just judging by the main stream sources of info.) but quite recently, actually on this site, I came across some interviews and stories that presented him as a sort of irresponsible and with "weak personality". Much like Keith said "a great guitarists, but thats all".

Charlie. The true hero of the Stones in my opinion.

In my maturity I think I've learnt to love them all without idolising them.

Keith was always my man [..and my God when I was a kid]

He ain't perfect...but I don't mind.

Yeah! Keef once said that Charlie is "key man" for the Stones, and he was right.

The Rolling Stones would not exist today if not for Mick Jagger. Mick has carried more than his share of the band while Keith was totally wasted. They are not the Rolling Stones without Mick, Keith or Charlie, everthing else is gravy.

To me the Rolling Stones have always been a sum of their parts, they all were unique, but Mick Taylor made them a more interesting band to listen to. He gave them that musical boost they lacked. My favorite guitarist back in the golden era.

when i was little (6 years old), and my sister brought home the single of Paint it Black, she pointed to Charlie Watts and said "thats Mick Jagger". So for the longest time I thought that. So, Charlie is my favorite.

Only because Charlie has stayed put, had Bill stayed and Charlie left you'd probably be saying the same thing about Bill.

The true Rolling Stones was Mick, Keith, Brian, Bill, Charlie and Stu.

Every one of them was and is replaceable. That being to continue making music they need only find someone to replace the member that is no longer there, but it stopped being the true Rolling Stones in 1969 when that line up was broken for ever.

Charlie.

Used to be Keith, but his childish antics before he sobered up have made him appear a bit pitiful in my eyes.

And my admiration for Jagger's discipline has made me love him more in recent years.

So the line up was broken cause Brian Jones was out ? That's just a historical fact. Jagger and Richards were irreplaceable when they started writing songs (together) and became a very successful band.

The replacement of Brian Jones was in fact an improvement at that moment, but the replacement of Taylor still leads to heavy debates, because his substitute was never apt for the job.

These replacements could have been anyone, but the true Rolling Stones was gone forever no matter what these replacements did.

It's called nostalgia, get over it.winking smiley

There's nothing to get over. My point is not about nostalgia at all either.

Let's say in 1969 that The Beatles replaced Harrison with Clapton as a full on member, that isn't really The Beatles anymore, it becomes something else.

As for you nostalgia, you ought to follow your own advice. winking smiley
