I read in a review of U2's last show in San Jose that in a post concert interview, Bono said "We're so tired of the Rolling Stones copying our every move. First it was the screens, than the acoustic set. Now I hear that when they go on tour they're going to open with Zoo Station and call the tour 'Tongue TV.' What's next? Keith eating sushi?"
I don't know what that last bit is about, but if it's true that is SUCH bollocks!
If you have watched "being mick", you know that Bono and Mick are freinds, they even huge. You would say that it's just a play for the camera, but why in hell would bono sing together with Mick on Joy if they were not freinds. Bono and U2 looks up to the Stones. Rolling Stones gave birth to the stage performence that u2 uses today. I think u2 finds Stones as their idols.
Stones were doing acoustic sets in 1969. I think U2 is a joke. And Bono, people talk about the Stones were wigs. There was a guy on the Howard Stern show who does hair transplants for famous people and he said he has done many for Bono and he had documents to prove it. Not that it matters if he is bald or not, I just wanted to make fun of him.

uh..doesnt it occur to you that maybe he's just having a laugh??
Christ - people get so precious and sensitive about all this!
Of course this was tongue in cheek. U2 and the stones are friends. Edge played with Ronnie on at least one of his solo albums, Keith and Ronnie helped Bono out on the song silver and gold and Bono sang on Joy on Micks last solo album and he guested on iorr in Chicago on the last tour. So if he said it he was just having some fun!

Today I've watched it, and Bono looks soooo silly next to Jagger!
"got to be worked on don't have no bark nor bite..."
When Sam Cutler gave birth to the title "Greatest Rock'n'Roll Band In The World", Bono was 2 years old. But I agree with BowieStone - I can't imagine Bono said that, and if he did he's just jaleous!
he knows the Stones still can destroy his redundent sounding band any day of the week , so of course he should be jealous thats how spoiled children act
IF YOU REALLY LOOK BACK THE STONES INVENTED THE CIRCLE STAGE IN 81 CHECK OUT HAMPTON, SO U2 CANT STAKE CLAIM TO THAT ONE, IT WASNT REALLY A CIRCLE BUT IT WAS RAMPS RIGHT BY THE FANS
'in the round' style stages have been around for decades
take a look at the film of the Beatles' 1964 washington shows for example, even Sinatra's "The Main Event" comeback TV special at Madison Square Garden in 1973.
U2 did use satellite stages long before the Stones did however. They first did it on the "Zoo TV" tour in '92-'93 (and again in '97), whereas (apart from a one off such as the Miami PPV in 1994 when the main stage was just extended into the audience for 3 songs) the Stones didnt do so until 1997.
The two bands are influenced by each other for such pyrotechnics and various gimmicks. I was at the same U2 show in Dublin in 1993 that Mick attended when he was in Ireland to work on Voodoo Lounge and theres no question that a professional performer like him would not be looking for production ideas from other major acts

What's up with this forum? There are people saying that "Love is strong" is not good. Then somebody else says that "Love is strong" is OK, but "Anybody seen my baby" is bad. Then another person starts a thread "U2 blasts stones?!". Pffff..... OK, let me just say this one more time. It's not a question of esthetics, or personal opinion. The fact of the matter is that U2 is a fake act. You hear their records and you think "Cool". After ten times it's just a bore. And the stones albums all kick ass. And it's not going to be the last tour.
