Interesting! Where's it from, and when, and who took it, please and thank you?

Taken during 1967 European tour. That's Bill's bass.

I wonder if it's just a picture or if he can actually play it. I've never considered the idea of Charlie playing a stringed instrument.

Probably more a case of him just plonking around on other people's instruments every now and then.

Ringo wrote a lot of songs, even though he had very little musical talent on other instruments than drums. It would be interesting to hear if Charlie has ever accomplished anything on piano or guitar.

I saw a picture not long ago of Charlie with a Ukulele. Might have been a tweet by Ronnie saying he is giving him lessons. So it seems Charlie is interested in playing stringed instruments.

For what it's worth, Ringo tells a story about writing Don't Pass Me By on the piano. In his shows, he plays the first bit of it on there before switching to drums.

Mick can play piano, Keith and Mick can drum good enough for demos. The Glimmers are good recording engineers as well. They may seem ordinary to us because we follow them each day but they are rock and roll masters and geniuses.

I'd be surprised if Charlie Watts didn't know at least a few guitar chords. The guy's a long time musician, even with drums as a specialty he should know a few chords.

There are a few more pics with Charlie holding a guitar.

For example the 1968-line-up. Mick, Keith Brian nd Bill standing; Charlie in front of them on a chair, a guitar on his knees.

During the Steel-Wheels-Tour, on many occasions when the 5-piece-band entered the stage for the final bow, Charlie had a guitar in his hand. Why did he do so?

I think that a man called a musician is not only interested by his musical instrument. Anyway, no trouble to see Charlie with a guitar.

YOu hang around musicians long enough, you pick up a bit of everything. I'm far from a multi-instumentalist but I've picked up a little piano and drums over the years and could hold my own with a guitar if I had to. Doesn't surprise me to see charlie noodling a bit. The mainstay gets boring after that long.
