Hi Bv-
I have a question , just from a learning standpoint. Why do using special characters such as %, $, @, etc.. make it harder for a hacker when it is simply only a symbol itself like any other alphabetical character. Why does that make a difference in the cyber security world?
Please advise-

I don't understand. IORR is not a bank as someone once said.
Can't you just stop using the old IORR user and create a new one along with new e-mail ??
There's no real profit to be made by hackers posting Rolling Stones opinions under a stolen IORR user name.
Don't worry about it. This is a conversation between me and BV and it's only here because I can't email him from the linked account (and anyway he didn't reply when I did).
I was a recent victim of identity theft. My phone, email , and bank account were hacked. Fortunately, the bank caught the initial illegal transaction where the perpetrator used my info to purchase a money order of $1000. My bank immediately shut down my account. The the thieves also tried to buy gift cards up to $800 at a local Publix (regional grocery store). That purchase attempt was denied .
I had to change my email address, cell number (and reconfigure phone). Also this involves changing resume info, I had to file a police report and send to my bank. This took me a week of my time and mental integrity. The bank never pursued the the thief.
I would have to agree that sometimes it is necessary to change user name, passwords and e-mail addresses.

Anyway, back to the question, why is IORR unable to comply with the law and delete my email address when requested to do so?

The phorum pages of IORR is having a "Help & Policies" page, linked up as follows on the top of the forum pages:
For information about how to use this forum please check out forum help and policies.
If you open that page you will see the e-mail address of the IORR Editor. The very same e-mail address is repeated many other places on IORR, and it should not be hard to find. Feel free to send a formal e-mail referring to GDPR policies, including your request issues. The IORR Editor have been responding to every single e-mail send to this adress since IORR got online in 1996, so rest assure any request will be handled.

I did read the policies page and I had no trouble finding the email address. I have emailed iorr@arena.no at least twice in the past couple of years. However I did not receive a reply of any sort at any time.
Now finally I can't access that email account at all so I can't make this request by email. That why I'm posting here to request that my compromised address be deleted.
Please advise.

It never crossed your mind emailing him from a different email-account, explaining the situation? I have a hard time believing that..
The request should be sent from the email address which you are trying to deal with to prove that it's yours. Sending something from another random address proves nothing does it?
As I have explained before I'm only posting here because I don't have access to that email account so how about just staying out of it?

Certainly not trying to get into an argument.
Just trying to delete my data when someone else has already highjacked my account.
It's important to try to keep control of our addresses and acccounts.

Why not just terminate your current IORR account and open up a new one with correct e-mail address? I did it once, 2 minute job. Even changed my moniker...to something original!
I'd terminate this ID right now if I could but that's verboten.

Why not just delete all of his details as requested, info, posts etc and be done with it?
Seems more time is being spent going round in circles about it than it takes to just nuke the lot.
