You know, there are some bands/artists considered "sacred" that it's some kind of sacrilege not being a fan, since almost everyone likes them. But sometimes, you simply can't stand the music or the band itself. What are yours?

Not everyone likes the bands you mentioned. You mean bands you think are just overrated. Sacred are bands like The Beatles, Stones or artists like Presley.
I mean Anastacia considered as sacred??? She has one hit album.

Just a difference in the word choice, but I know what you mean.

Most people mentioned here I agree on except for Neil Young. I think he belongs in the top of all musicians. Nirvana is way overrated, but their Unplugged set was fantastic.

Gotta agree on Jimi Hendrix...
He was a fine guitarist... was able to write good songs. But that's it. I never considered him the God everyone says he is. So actually he's overrated. I have all his albums though... and they are really good... but I heard better songwriters, better guitarists & better vocalists.

Would have said Zappa only one year ago; but downloaded some good sh*t from One Size Fits All, We´re Only In It For The Money; and the late 70´s stuff. But he sure aint no God.

Pink Floyd, Sting, Coldplay - all sound lame to me

And Eric Clapton is th worst most boring person IMO. Way overrated.
All others like Sting, Phil Collins are too obvious. Any half assed rocker with any kind of cred is not even going to consider them.
I don't dig green day too much. Their songs are lame. Production is firstclass but the tunes bite.

I would though be offended normally by mentioning the Doors as an overrated band - 'cause they are favorites of mine - but I'm at the moment pretty tired of them... After I discovered all the dimensions of the Stones and their sources of blues I can´t anymore place the Doors as a blues band (still there are some fine moments, e.g. Cars Hiss By Window, Roadhouse Blues & some more. In the future I will appreciate Morrison´s poetry more than the music.

Gasoline Alley, Every Picture tells a Story, An Old Raincoat Won't Ever Let You Down, Never a Dull Moment (all of them are with Ron Wood), Atlantic Crossing, A Night On The Town, Foot Loose & Fancy Free

are all terrific albums. And the first 4 I mentioned are better then the faces IMHO.

Those albums = Rod Stewart solo... you can't deny it... that's great stuff. Not his 80s & 90s output... although some true hidden gems in the last 25 years.

Better than Faces. Gotta check.

Pretty much any bleeding, tree huggin' pratt who can't pound salt into a rat hole but knows which fork to use and the best way to get high from pharmacutical cocaine.

Anyone that thinks that Jimi Hendrix was/is overrated wasn't around when he broke on the scene, he changed EVERYTHING! Overrated, not on your life.

How many artists have covered Hendrix tunes? And anyway how much more is there? Beyond The Beatles and The Stones I can't think of another single artist who had more of an impact on the music scene in the 60's. I mean I've alway's heard that the first time Pete Townsend saw him live Pete wanted to give up playing. All of the British bands were blown away by him.
