OT: Twining, OpenG and other Taylor buffs....did you know..........?...

I recently discovered a 1971 release by Mayall, (recorded 1970), where he gets a selection of old band members together and records a double-album called "Back To the Roots".

It has Mandell, Clapton AND Taylor......often altogether on some tracks.

I'd never heard of this one. Just in case youse didn't know.

Actually the best bits are done by an electric violinist, Sugarcane Harris, and by a sax/flute player, John Almond.

Wow, Sugarcane Harris! He's one of a kind as a violin player! I've heard him on some Frank Zappa records, if you've got the chance, check him out...it's rock/blues violin at its best!

I remember a friend of mine playing that album to me years ago. Is it available on CD?

I don't know - I'm waiting for the experts to jump in and say. (The one I bought was vinyl - nice fat booklet too. Whoopee. And I hadn't realised that Mandell was another off Mayall's lead guitar production line).
