OT: U2 Boots

Anybody else been listening to the
boots for the new tour? I just
heard the audience recording of
U2's March 28th opener at San Diego.
Works for me, and I've been kinda
sceptical, tired of them, but sounds
promising. Maybe it would be good for
our favourite band if U2 gives them
a run for their money on the road this year?

It is evident that U2 have been very successful at re-inventing themselves, with a modern, vibrant feel to their music, and Edge's guitar sounding clear and accomplished. Most impressive (and surprising) of all however, is how tight Larry and Adam have become.

Are they the band the Stones could have become?

They sound tight, with a clear
distinct seasoned edge, very vibrant,
relevant, in excellent form. I think
it's a good standard for the Stones
to meet. Enuff resting around on
their butts!

I have the 4 also ! I think they sound great and the setlists are fine. They are very different from eachother. They are playing old tunes.

The sound of the boots is very good / excellent !

One negative point is Bono's voice...it appears that sometimes he can't sing (out of breath, or too high !).

It announces a great tour anyway.

they were all on EZT before it shut down. The fact that they were being downloaded by hundreds of people at a time (breaking all previous records on the site) meant you could get a show fully downloaded in about 3 hours. I also got the 2/4/05 show on the Traders Den a couple of days ago before it crashed due to exceeding its bandwidth when all the EZT refugees tried to sign up for it!

The shows have been very impressive indeed so far and the band have been playing great. I like the setlists too..a good cross section of their career with some early songs that I didnt think they'd play again

[www.u2exit.com] has part of the 3/28 San Diego show available (as of today). Pretty cool, even if the sound is only 64kbps. I love the setlist alterations, mixing the old with the new. Now that these guys are Hall of Famers, this validates their decision to offer more of an overview to their career.

To tide us over--absolutely right. I haven't heard U2 sound so good in years--this tour's boots are definitely worth checking out.

The sound quality of the 3/28 show is excellent--too bad I can't find it in its entirety, but the 10-song excerpt is high-energy and very enjoyable--reminds me of the early 80s shows for its intensity.

the appreciative crowds loving it!
