Keith's secretly been replaced by an elderly scarf model...you guys are onto it and endangering further tour dates...knock it off[/quote

I'm not buying the scarf theory.
I'm also not buying the scarf.. way too expensive.
I'm not sure about the two fingers over one onto the "G" and "G" string. You would get one C# and a D but it sounds like the whole C# chord to me.
I keep playing it.
It's got to me.
I want to get inside Keith's head.

If I play C major then C# major it sounds like what Keith did.
I think he just slid the one finger up a fret.
Which would be an interesting choice.

If true it would have been intentional. Can't say I liked the sound of it. My guitars in storage so I can't try it myself.

I'm working hard to embrace it.

I'm not convinced it was a @#$%& up...maybe Keith just thought he would try something a little different

I agree and like it. Some here say he was messing with Jagger. The chords sound a bit like in "Spend The Night Together" which was playing on the PA just before Keef& Company took the stage. Perhaps he was riffing (joking) off that

IF that's it......maybe he was thinking, "slide up B to C, into, the C lick", without a guitar in hand, a B slide to C, would give you a slight walk up reggae feel, which the first 40 takes were. MAYBE he was trying to add that element, and accidentally started in the actual correct spot, and walked up out.
This is an unlikely excuse, but it would make sense, because getting lost, augmenting something you already have down, is an easy mistake.
