O2 2012 vs Glastonbury and Hyde Park 2013?

What's your opinion? My opinion is that the 2012 performances were much
better than what we've seen so far in Glastonbury and Hyde park.
To me it seems like Keith have lost his focus a bit from last year.
Is just me to have that feeling?

2012 tops 2013.
Besides Glastonbury... Seemed to be a fantastic gig.
I wished I was there.

I think Glastonbury appeared to be the best based on the TV coverage from the perspective of playing and energy.

Of the two I saw (1st O2 last year and Hyde Park) I think Hyde Park was better because the show had far more energy and the audience was far more into it. O2 audience was more subdued.

That said, the set list was better at O2 mk 1 and there was the total surprise element of seeing the first show and now knowing what's coming up. YCAGWYW with a choir was a total surprise and seeing SFTD played well was also a great surprise. It was also good to see Bill.

It seems strange that on paper O2 should have been better and yet I preferred HP! Better set list, longer show (23 songs vs 19), smaller venue, indoors, better stage, more rare numbers, first gig excitement, novelty value. And yet HP has the edge. Just goes to show how much I value energy and atmosphere over technicalities I supopose (and a bit of sunshine), but that's my take on it. Everyone will have a different opinion. Also, I think you need time to reflect - HP is more recent memory. (It was also my son's first Stones gig.)

I was at Glastonbury and Hyde Park. Have to say, the TV coverage did nothing for Glastonbury. I don't think I have seen an atmosphere like that at any live event before.
And what struck me was the fact that at Glastonbury, the younger crowd (late teens/early 20s) seemed to make up the bulk of the crowd, and the Stones annhilated them - they were going utterly nuts. It was like the Stones had, at 50 years into their career, discovered a whole new crowd again. Was inspirational to see it.
Hyde Park was fun and moved me at times, although it wasn't the same electric vibe that was there at Glastonbury.
I didn't go to the 02 and I kind of regret that, but the 02 could never even remotely compare to the magic that is Glastonbury festival, hence I'm very happy.
Now .. do I go to Hyde Park again?

As I wrote in the other thread, I was at the O2 #2 and Hyde Park #1:

Smaller venue and better setlist (more songs, more rarities and nice to see Bill) at the O2, better crowd and vibe at Hyde Park.

So, O2 has my preference but I was very happy to go to HP.

As great as Hyde Park was being really close to the stage the 02 gig, 25th Nov, has the edge for me. This is mostly because it was my first Stones show but also because there were a lot more rarieties and I got to see my musical hero Bill Wyman on stage with the Stones. I never thought I would ever see that!

I was at both O2 Shows and at the hyde park gig

The First O2 Show was the best at the Tour. The First Hyde Park Show ... was good but not exzellent.

This Tour Top 3

01 O2 Arena (First Gig)
02 Glastonbury
03 Newark (Second Show)

Glastonbury for me, something different about that night. Watched it back on tv and it really does not do it justice.

O2 was good, the band probably played as good if not better than Glasto but the crowd was flatter than a witches tit. I'll let you know my thoughts on Hyde Park In a few days winking smiley

I saw on this tour only the opening night at the O2 Arena. So I would say, this was the best show, also because Bill & Mick T were there.

I wanted also go to the 2nd Hyde Park concert, but because of unforseen circumstances, I've resold my ticket.

Haven't been to a live Rolling Stones gig since 2007,but I would go with Glastonbury 'cos it was a great hour of the second half on TV,and BBC clips of Glastonbury Girl and JJF were great.
Know a couple of fans who went there ,and they were blown away for the whole 3 days.Best Glasto they been to.
The London gigs last year at O2, and Hyde Park 1 last Saturday that I seen on youtube, are also great shows.
My verdict is ,Glasto, but all the London shows were great.
Have a really good time at Hyde Park 2 with hopefully another varied and not predictable set list. winking smiley
