reading that it appears there will be a pre-walsh set and leadon will be the guitar player

Well, I could state the obvious parallel with the Stones now but won't.

But he won't really join the eagles, he'll be a hired hand.

It's a scientific process really...to be Feldered...it involves wearing Henley's and Freying a bunch of those that have helped you in the past...ooooo I just got chills...

He's probably set for life based solely on the records they released by 1975 and that greatest hits record that still sells like hotcakes.

I watched the documentary. I always thought Henley was the primadonna. After watching the history, I'm convinced Glenn Frey is the real villian. Seems like a total @#$hole. Their manager is no prize either.

Those song publishing royalties are good work if you can get it!

Yeh - I really enjoyed it. Just watched it recently. Although by the end of it I just didn't feel like listening to the Eagles music (Although I've listened to them for years).

Glen Frey in particular came across as such an utter twat and it just left a bad taste (for me anyway). Bernie Leadon and Randy Meisner seem like pretty good blokes though. I can easily imagine why Leadon felt compelled to pour beer over Frey's head way back when.

Felder's book reveals much of the same...although poorly written...c'mon Don, I am loving everything but the book writing...don't do that again

glen frey seemed so cool in the 70s but come 1980 to the present day he comes off as such a prick, btw don henleys solo career was far better than freys

That is incredible given he hasn't done anything big since he left the Eagles. This would be Irv Azoff's doing. He made sure the Eagles did not sign rip off contracts and he was pro-active in getting them great contracts while the Stones were struggling to shed Allen Klein

+1 for the Eagles!

how does that stuff work/ does Bernie get royalties for songs he did not write as well as the songs he did write?

hell bernie probably gets over 2 million a year for the royalties on album sales with the songs he wrote on it plus "witchy woman" airplay since he wrote that.

a review by someone of last nights eagles concert with leadon:

Bernie Leadon played the entire first set and second encore last night in Louisville and was treated as a full member, not a side man.

The first set included material from the first 4 albums. Second set was "Hotel Calffornia", "Love Will Keep Us Alive" from "Hell Freezes Over, and "The Long Run" and a couple of Joe Walsh solo songs, "Life's Been Good" and "Funk 49".

There was nothing from "The Long Road Out Of Eden" or any of Henley or Frey's solo albums. The only other non Eagles song was "Rocky Mountain Way" in the second encore.

Stuart Smith was with them on guitar as well as 3 keyboard players and a drummer/percussionist. Henley did stay on the drums for about 2/3 of the show. At times there were 2 drum kits in use,

The show was good, but the pacing didn't really pick up until late in the second set. The first set seemed to feel a bit like the documentary. It had several songs from "Desperado" which imho are fine on the album but lacked a little live.

They played several songs that haven't been heard live in a long time; "Peaceful Easy Feeling", "Train Leave Here This Morning"", "Those Shoes", "Pretty Maids All In A Row", "In The City" to name a few.

setlist:

Saturday Night
Train Leaves Here This Morning
Peaceful Easy Feeling
Witchy Woman
Tequila Sunrise
Doolin-Dalton
Doolin'-Dalton/Desperado (Reprise)
Already Gone
The Best of My Love
Lyin' Eyes
One of These Nights
Take It to the Limit

Second Set
Wasted Time (Reprise)
Pretty Maids All in a Row
I Can't Tell You Why
New Kid in Town
Love Will Keep Us Alive
Heartache Tonight
Those Shoes
In the City
(Joe Walsh song)
Life's Been Good
(Joe Walsh song)
The Long Run
Funk #49
(James Gang cover)
Life in the Fast Lane

Encore:
Hotel California

Encore 2:
Take It Easy
Rocky Mountain Way
(Joe Walsh song)
Desperado

looks like bernie played about 15 songs. good thing mick taylor gets 2

First set looks amazing. I would love to see video of them playing "Doolin' Dalton'"...second set is essentially just the Long Run LP...rather boring...

Damn. I would be surprised if the Eagles I know and love keep that pace up...

I read reviews on a fansite (eaglesfans. com)- looks like a great show, about 3 hours. I am going twice with VIP packages- seat in row 2-10 with pre concert food etc. for $625- a little more reasonably priced and better overall value than some VIP packages that got a fan a place to stand for 2 hours during the show in a "pit".
