8 July Tim Ries Rolling Stones Project in London
Date: July 3, 2013 00:10

For those of you who will be in London next week:

Monday 8 July Tim Ries will be playing the Rolling Stones Project at the Lyric Theatre on Shaftesbury Avenue in London. Tim will be joined on stage by Bernard Fowler, Lisa Fisher and Darryl Jones, as well as other special guests.

The Rolling Stones Project will perform at the beautiful Lyric Theatre in London on Monday July 8th. After the historic Stones concert at Glastonbury last weekend and in-between the Hyde Park concerts in London, The Rolling Stones Project should prove to be an exciting evening of music. The Project hasn't played in London since 2007 at Ronnie Scotts. For tickets:

In 2005, Rolling Stones saxophonist and keyboardist Tim Ries, produced, arranged and recorded the Rolling Stones Project. The arrangements are steeped in the jazz, blues, rock and Latin genres. Guest artists included: Keith Richards, Charlie Watts, Ronnie Wood, Sheryl Crow, Norah Jones, Lisa Fischer, Bernard Fowler, Darryl Jones, Bill Frisell, John Scofield, John Patitucci, Brian Blade, Ben Monder and many others. During the 2 year Stones Bigger Bang tour, Tim recorded another project, Stones World, and released the disc in 2008. This was a unique opportunity to record in many countries, utilizing the talents of local musicians, singers and dancers and record world music versions of the Stones classics. This time, Keith, Charlie and  Ronnie recorded as well as Mick Jagger. In addition to the 4 Stones, there were 75 guests on Stones World, including: Brazilian legend Milton Nascimento, Flamenco dancer Sara Baras, Fado sensation Ana Moura, Salsa King Eddie Palmieri, Stones singers Lisa Fischer and Bernard Fowler, pianist Chuck Leavell and many other jazz, rock and world greats.

Not so! I saw Tim and band at the Paradiso and at a jazz club in Portland several years ago and it was great!!

Do NOT miss this gig if you can help it.

I have seen Tim a couple of times with different musicians and bands. It was never boring. If you get the chance to see him, don't miss it. Unless you really hate jazz music, because his music is rather jazzy. But if you simply like great music performed by a bunch of great musicians, you will have a great time.

Tim and band are playing the Lyric Theatre, which is one of the most beautiful theatres in the West End.

Got tickets on the front row. This will be a lot closer than I will get on Saturday at Hyde Park. I have 2 of their albums. It's just a great laid back interpretation of Stones music. It can never replace it, but can make you see it in a different light. I also love to see Charlie doing his jazz thing, so maybe I'm biased.

Not going, but I like it that he worked both with Wood and Scofield : these 2 players got something in common, albeit from a different angle.smiling smiley

First thought is that one of either Mick or Keith will turn up. I'm sure Charlie and Mick Taylor will be there too. God, I've got a ticket to see The Who tonight at Wembley. Ugh!!!

Ronnie's the man about town. Would think he's likeliest of all.

Wow, sounds like a great gig. I've seen Tim Ries with Bernard a couple of times, and once with LIsa as a guest, but never with Charlie!

Details? Set list?

But can it fill the ZiggoDome?

Really enjoyed last night. We were in our seats waiting for the show to start when Charlie arrived to a round of applause from the audience and took his seat a couple of rows behind us. He watched the first part of the show from there and we were hoping he would be taking the stage later.
The Worst (good to see you by the way) has posted the setlist above. Bernard giving a lot of soul to his vocals, Wild Horses was quite superb. After the interval Charlie did indeed take to the stage as did Chuck Leavell. Lovely to see all concerned enjoying the low key surroundings.........must have been quite a change for them after Glastonbury and Hyde Park!
