Great story. They are very nice people and worthy of the attention we give them.

Lucky you, flying is so boring!!!

Sadly I didn't get an upgrade - that would have been to the same section as the band... and I'm sure they didn't smoke!

Pictures - on balance I'm pleased I didn't do that. Someone took a picture of Lisa, Bernard, Daryl and Tim on the flight - but asked first.

Yep, in the right place at the right time and with the right attitude too! Well done!

Now that I think of it, some of us got to shake hands with Ronnie and Keith through their car window as they were leaving Bondy for the last time in November...had kind of forgotten about it oddly enough! Ronnie has this smallish hand and Keith a pretty short bony one ;-)

Flying BA and not Virgin? Inconvenient flight Virgin schedule, or maybe since tour negotiations w/the Virgin/Dainty partnership fell through, Branson's welcome to the Stones has soured a bit? Just a cynical thought from the coach classes, LOL's. BA has a proper first class cabin, any idea if that's where they where seated? I bet they paid full fare biz class, and BA gave 'em an upgrade for full run of the front of the plane. No smoking for Keith, of that we can sure. As a smoker myself, he has my empathy!
Big thanks for sharing your story, we can only hope the rest of us would have been able to play the situation so elegantly!

I thought they traveled on their own (chartered) jet. I wonder if it was the same in their travels between US cities??

A really nice story, the citadel. I must say that Keith generally seems to come out cool during these accidental encounters. He really seems to be a nice man.

You didn't dear to mention to him "by the way, my nick name is The Citadel in one fanboard; you don't mind playing that in Hyde Park...."grinning smiley

I have heard the same from several people who have 'bumped' into him.

I would have asked them when they are playing MSG, Texas, Atlantic City and Houston. Remember, you helped pay for their flight as well by buying tickets!

It's embarrassing frankly. My favorite band is the Rollingf*ckingStones and they travel in private jets! This isn't Hall & Oats!

I guess the era of chartering your own big jet and giving it a custom paint job for your tour is more of a decadent 70s rock star thing. I have no clue how the boys traveled for the big tours over the past 24 years.

That 1972 chartered tour jet experience must have been really something. Enough to shave a few years off of your natural life!
