...THE DOORS

And quoted from Doors news letter:

Greetings, Doors fans:

This is your friendly update from TheDoors.com. We hope you'll visit the
site soon to check out the new features below.

DOORS IN THE MIX

Two of the electronic music world's biggest acts have created
envelope-pushing remixes of classic Doors tracks. Grammy-nominated Las
Vegas mix wizards The Crystal Method have prepared a sizzling new mix of
"Roadhouse Blues," once again bridging the worlds of rock and electronic
music. Meanwhile, another Grammy nominee, U.K. DJ-producer Paul Oakenfold -
who has also remixed tracks by such rock superstars as The Rolling Stones,
Elvis Presley and U2 - presents a stylish reworking of "L.A. Woman." Find
out more about both by clicking here [www.thedoors.com].

THE STREAM GETS DEEPER

Doors Radio has been updated with a treasure trove of recently released
tracks, including live versions of "Break on Through," "Soul Kitchen," "Five
to One," "The End," "Riders on the Storm," "Roadhouse Blues" and "Light My
Fire," among others. Tune in by clicking here [www.thedoors.com].

Saw the Doors21C a couple of weeks ago in Perth.
Man what a show.

Ray and Robbie are playing superbly and really worked the crowd brilliantly.

Tight, powerful and on song.

Astbury was nothing short of magnificent.
Played the part superbly.

And if you closed your eyes you could have been forgiven for thinking Morrison was still alive.

Absolutely outstanding show and setlist.

With the way the Doors and Who are playing at the moment - even though each respective band has only two original members playing with them - the Stones have alot to live up to if they want to still be considered as TGRNRBITW - at least in this age bracket anyway.

Have you ever lent somebody $20 and never seen them again? It was probably worth it.

Hey, here´s some grateful lines from someone that´s been visiting
Morrisons cemetery Pérè Lachaise (forgive my French) several times -
thanks Monkey Man (MM, we do run in to each other in nice wavelengths
in this rain forest jungle home we old folks dwell in
... out here in the perimeter there are no stars...).
Who would have thought Astbury could fill up Jimbo´s costume?
Yeah, I believe you. He is a heavy dude.

I definitely will go see "the Doors" (the Doors... ?) if they´re at any point approaching the Arctic surroundings where I live (mid-Sweden, that is).

Once (last reunion in y 2000) I had a tribute poetry band, we made stage poetry with heavy rhytms (hardcore poetry if you like) to Morrsons texts, poems & lyrics, which we had made subjects for interpretations. We scared the shit of any reviewer or cultural snobs, intellectual elíte.

Back to Ray, Robbie & Ian (Densmore isnt there, is he?): Can you recall any kind of setlist... Or how is the repertoire... I guess there is no new stuff, huh? Or has IA brought something from the Cult with him?

I have the NYC (D21C) show from May 2004 if anyone likes a copy - great stuff! All the classic songs.

No, Densmore isn't with Ray and Robbie, he sued because Robbie and Ray used THE DOORS name, so they had to change it to THE DOORS OF THE 21st Century.

The DOORS of the 21st Century will be in St. Louis soon, I'll check them out.

Prove he isn't alive, all we have is a tombstone, there was never a body viewed winking smiley

Sometimes Astbury gives a hint of Jim, just a hint though, just put on Jimbo's albums with the Doors.

Hi,

Thank you folks for information to one, who has been in the crypts and catacombs since early 90´s (no kiddin, no irony).

Undoubtless Morrison is irreplaceable.

How does Astbury handle the spoken parts, by the way?
I hope he doesnt deal with the pure poetry of ol´James Douglas?
I´m pretty sure Astbury guarantee a fine rock 'n' roll show, though...
...Any mp3´s out there?

I'll definately have mixed feelings on This New Doors show, when I go see them. At least two of the originals will be there, (of The Doors)...but someone singing Jims parts, mmmmmm, I'd rather have Jim shown on the big screen, while the others play, then maybe Densmore would show up, and they could go back to being THE DOORS. I just don't understand, JIM WHERE ARE YOU?

It's like that friggen song of Santana's, "Black Magic Woman" it haunts ya, ya know? Everytime I hear that song, I scream, "WHO IS THAT BLACK MAGIC WOMAN," then I'm okay until I hear it again, but,...I still don't know the answer.

But, in all fairness, it seems that The Doors fans want them out there touring, making albums, it's been good for the band.

Jimbo's probably happy about the touring: he gets a percentage, doesn't do any work, (except maybe offer Philosophical thoughts from time to time) and, he can remain on his little unknown Island winking smiley

Btw, Keith mentioned recently that he never met Jim.

Baboon Bro

Peace to you.

I discovered the Doors long after the fat lady had sung on Jim's life.

Excuse me for a moment...

Too true.

It is very intriguing that there was such a quiet ending to such a loud life.
He may well still be alive although after almost a quarter of a century with not a peep out of Mr Mojorisin, I doubt he's still on our plain of existence.

But if you haven't seen Doors21C and you get the chance - go because I think you'll be really glad you did.
I don't know exactly how to explain this but I'll try.

Astbury sounded and even looked like Jim. He moved like him and I think to accomodate mysteriously sliding into the dawn of suspended disbelief, actually believed while on stage that he in fact was/is Morrison.

Now I grant you that may sound like the very reason to avoid going, but once you see him on stage I think you'll get what I mean in that it's a complimentary thing and not a travesty of rock icon justice.
He is performing a tribute more than gratifying his own ego.

He also sounds nothing like Ian Astbury of The Cult. Strange I know but it's true.
All of his own performing nuances are also not there.
For being a star in his own right with a very unique sound and performance quality, it's amazing that he is able to leave it at the door (if you'll pardon the pun), and perform in yet another unique manner.

Btw, your idea of

"At least two of the originals will be there, (of The Doors)...but someone singing Jims parts, mmmmmm, I'd rather have Jim shown on the big screen, while the others play, then maybe Densmore would show up, and they could go back to being THE DOORS."

is a very interseting one.

Baboon Bro I'm back with you...
I guess I've not much left to add to an already lengthy and loquacious post.
However I can crap on for hours! :0)

I got caught up in The Doors around '87 when I was a teenager and loved the rebellious image Morrison held/holds.
But more importantly I became enamoured with the music.
Now being the ripe old age of 36, I see Jim's life as more or less just a bunch of theatrics than anything of real rebellious substance.
But the music is still there.
And contrary to the song - it's not over.
And for this wonderful catalogue of material - I'm not sure it ever will be.

I guess I should end this with a quote from Mr Sugarman...

"It's not important that he died, it's important that he lived".

And live he did.
