New guy here...Anaheim 1978...one more time

Greetings to all. My first post here.
I was at the first show, July 23 (more posts on this later).
However, on the boot of the July 24 show,
what does Mick say before HAPPY?
It starts off by him saying, "I;m not sure about the boys today..."
Is anyone good with Cockney accents?
I could write a book about the '78 tour,
and a 3 volume edition on the '75 tour,
but that will come later.
Cheers to all.

I think it goes ...

"I'm not sure about the boys today, they're a bit of a rowdy bunch. I'm sure it's f***ing them that's throwing the f***ing shoes"

Since I first heard this I have wondered why people would want to throw their shoes on stage. Anyone able to shed some light on this one?

Someone threw a shoe onstage.
Jagger then said "why don't you all throw your shoes onstage".

Valeswood. Thanks. That sounds pretty good.
The boot I have has Mick mentioning "i've got about 84 pairs
of shoes now. Thank you, that's enough," before Respectable (or Shattered)
But nowhere before does he mention "gimme your shoes."
This would mean he mentioned it BEFORE Respectable.
Did it happen after MIss you?
I have it on LP, so it may have been cut out.
IS there a copy of the July 23 show?
That's the one I was at.
You can tell because the one I was at, they screwed up the ending to Lies.
Instead of the cut off ending, they ended like any garage band.
It was wonderful, actually. Nice and sloppy.
Also, Keith mumbled every word to Happy. Every word.
Must have been the trip the dentist Chet Flippo wrote about.

tomk,

I also have this on vinyl (Return To Liver) but this is not complete as Love In Vain is missing. I also have a tape of the same show called On Tour 78, which has LIV and it is at the beginning of this song that Mick encourages the audience with "everybody’s shoes".

There appears to be a CD of the 23rd show called The Burning Out, check out the artwork:-

Best of luck finding a copy.

My brother was there.

I remember was him telling me about the chaos and confusion down on the field in the first few rows...like a rugby scrum...or mosh pit...people pushing and shoving...and shoes hitting the stage.
