This tour went uphill at Staples 2.
No doubt about that.
Not gone downhill since then by any means, but the momentum has been a bit up and down.
Main reason has been not using the great facility they have at their disposal.
i.e. Mick Taylor.

Alright,they have him on 2-4 songs,but could do so much better.

Maybe a roller coaster would be a better analogy or metaphor or something

The first step down was Goats Head Soup. They slowly rose again and peaked with Tattoo You and the 81/82 tour. Then they slid way down, almost off the mountain before reviving grandly for the Steel Wheels album and tour. Then the music stopped being new, but the touring continued at a plateau, to peak again with the No Security Tour. Since then it's been a slow glide to retirement, with the occasional burst and then a fizzle.
