Wow, what a bummer.

i'll bet you tickets to james mccartney's hall of fame induction in the rnr hall of fame that it makes it past one page though
I just hope I live long enough to see the day James is inducted. Hopefully it will be with the other Beatles sons.

Yes! He didn't hit it all perfectly, but he was clearly going for the young Keith notes. All whilst strumming the geetar! Someone commented earlier that you can't hear his voice in the live mixes after '82. Basically true, but listen to Ruby Tuesday from the live broadcast of the '89 Atlantic City show. Nice job by both Keef and the mixer.
Cigarettes, coke, and booze don't help the range much either.

People here talk about the crazy ticket prices, crappy guests, lame setlists and the under utilization of Mick Taylor, but the media has all but ignored it. They stayed too long at the party and everyone wishes they would go home. A sad end.

You're crazy. You're birth was a non event. The press in every city they've been to is all over it and almost uniformally positive. The only people complaining are people like me who should probably quit being so obsessive. But, the actual fact is that the performances (especially the one I saw on Tuesday, but pretty much all of the youtubes I've seen as well) have been heroic, triumphant and life affirming. Tomorrow will be my 24th show since '89,so I've got a pretty good base to judge from.

Really. I've never seen this name before. Drop a turd and move on. Yes, it may be true that the Rolling Stones in your city isn't the earth shaking-we're in the middle of the rock and roll universe-event it used to be, but nothing is anymore. They still generate plenty of excitement.

For me, for a long time some of my favorite Stones moments were when Keith would walk up the mike and and do the chorus with Mick,even if his voice was shot,it would still sound great example "Time is on my side" from Hamptons,but from 89 on with all the back up singers,he hardly sings anymore,and if he does is mixed very low,what gives?

His backing vocals on Exile (particularly Loving Cup and Casino Boogie) are phenomenal. Likewise Wild Horses and many others. Really miss the sweetness he used to bring (hard to believe he used to be the guy with the higher, sweeter voice!)

He cant hit those notes.He hasnt been able to since 1980. I believe it was a result of coming off of smack. His voice got deeper, hair changed , wrinkles...basically he caught up with himself
Some people who have been a long time users of opiates find theiir bodies change significantly after they stop. Some find that the drug slows down the aging process and it catches back up

I think the heroin was only a contributing factor. I think the smoking was the biggest part. All the other drugs/booze factored in too.
Think of Keith's voice on something like connection where he still has a nice voice compared to say 81/82.
Same thing happened to Ronnie. His voice on faces tracks such as ooh la la or any of his tracks on igmoatd compared to his album 1234.
I loved Mick and Keith singing together (especially live) and Ronnie and Keith on ronnies albums and some girls.
