Just 'discovered' Slave. Always liked TY but never really paid attention to this one until recently, now can't stop listening to it. What songs have done that for you?

Slave is one of my favourites!
Recently I re-discovered Heartbreaker, which is now in my top-5 Stones songs.

I re-visit from time to time their very first albums up until Aftermath, 're-discovering' things like 'Oh baby (We got a good thing going)', 'If you need me', 'Pain in my heart', 'Good times' and others.

I recently "discovered" "Winning Ugly." I hated that song for pretty much all 24 years I've been familiar with DW (picked it up in '89) but during my recent few-month DW phase I decided to let the whole album play, as opposed to my usual habit of playing it as a 6 song playlist ("One Hit," "Fight," "Shuffle," "Hold Back," "Dirty Work," "HIWY" )--and got snared by what I'm assuming are Keith's lead lines that open the song and respond to Mick's "ain't that the truth!" refrain each chorus. Those lead lines drive, and make, that song for me. The synth tones will never be redeemable but it was 1986. Ever since that listen a few months ago I actually love the song now, yuppie-rock-that-it-clearly-is be damned! I'm dead serious. Bring on the flames. winking smiley

Also, I never really cared for "Sleep Tonight" much until this very same phase. That may arguably be Keith's best 2nd best ballad, next to the gorgeous "Coming Down Again" of course!

Also, may I add that "Slave" is my favorite song on Tattoo You and always has been. I can totally see not "getting" it until a later phase or listen, but that song totally owns! What a GROOVE.

What a Shame. Great early Cold War blues.

Love that song. Perhaps the lesser of the ballad side, but all 5 are "Tops" in my book. smiling smiley
