Teens And 20 Something Stones Fans

I am 27 will be 28 in October and have been listening to The Stones since I was ten. I remember being in the local record store with my dad and he bought me Oasis' Definitely Maybe and The Rolling Stones Black And Blue. At that time I had no idea The Rolling Stones had been around for 30 years at that point, but I had heard Rock 'N' Roll Star on the radio and wanted the album and came across Black And Blue because the store had a "sounds like" section. The cover stood out to me. Been a fan since! My dad is not a Stones fan, he was there looking for big band music. If you are in your teens or 20 something, how did you become a fan of The Stones?

Wow..that's cool. I will turn 42 this year and consider myself a young fan.....hmmm, perspective. I remember a family friend asking in 81', why dont you listen to the newer music......I didnt like it, the Stones spoke to me. Seen then five times since and hope to take my 17 year old son if they do a fall leg. Don't let talk of the glory years ruin your now, I didn't.

I'm 20 and have been listening to the Stones since 2009. My Dad and I were given tickets to the Rhythm Kings, I'd never heard of Bill Wyman before, I loved the show, looked more into Bill then I discovered the Stones. I have seen the Rhythm Kings twice and will see them twice more this year, I have also seen the Bluesfest concert last June and the 25th Nov 02 show, I'll be at the July 6th Hyde Park show.

I have four kids (1 girl, 3 boys, age: 13, 15, 17 18) and they all die hard Rolling Stones fans, wearing Stones T shirts, listen to Stones music every day, the oldest knows all the bootlegs, unreleased material etc, he is going to fly to London to see them 3 rd times in July. They have very good taste and have a very careful father of course.

...enjoy every minute of it, sweet people!
You're in for a pretty good life, with the Stones by your side.
(But you probably found that out by yourselves, already.)

im not a teen but became a stones fan at 19 during a period when the band had a lot less exposure as they have had in recent years.

it happened in 1987, and basically i liked the image of the stones, loved watching clips of them on tv and also i heard that they were "the greatest rock and roll band in the world" i was a big U2 fan then and thought no one would ever be as good, so i went out and bought love you live, wasnt impressed much with it but then i bought rolled gold and was hooked.

i was the only one that age that was into the stones i felt, people used to comment about it, and some had never heard of them.

Not a teen anymore but I started listening to the Stones when I was about ten years old, around 1987. Have seen them live four times and am excited to see them again in Toronto tomorrow!
I am always wondering if there are any 80-something Stones fans around. I am in my mid-thirties now and listen to new artists in their 20s - obviously their are many fans in their 60s but are any older than the Stones themselves around here on IORR?

they could really swing in those days....charlie was in his element...many of us were surprised he didn't quit when swing gave way to bop in later years....

31 now..became a fan when Stripped came out. It was actually the Like A Rolling Stone video on MTV that got me. Loved that song. At that time I had never even heard the original version!

Became an obsessed fan by around age 23...not sure what prompted it but had to buy every album on CD and vinyl plus all the boots I could find.

My 11 year old son who is going with me to the the Boston show on June 12 put down on one of his school papers that Mick Jagger was his favorite celebrity and he took a lot of crap for it. He likes all the other garbage that fifth graders like but he loves the Stones.

In 1981 I took the same crap.....age ten. In art I built a replica of the 81' set. Some day the others will catch up.....good for him.
