I was thinking more like a mind melding of Richards, Taylor, & Wood.

Just to be honest I was the poster formerly known as "Duane in Houston", but since I was having technical problems logging on here plus the fact that I haven't lived in Houston for about 6 years now ( I now live in Austin ) I'm going with the new moniker of "Bungo" for reasons that are to mundane to go in to. Peace, Out.

Do you ever hang out with StonesTod? Sometimes I really miss him around here.

Of course most of the time I could care less.

I think the Stones saved Mick Taylor.

So, your post is incorrect.

Good response. While I don't think anyone "saved" the RS, it was Ronnie, not Taylor, that got the Stones back to the original Brian Jones double rhythm. The Stones understood that, that is why Ronnie has been around 30 years while Taylor was there four. But Taylor was chosen at the time because it was fashionable to have the hotshot lead guitarist.

They made some fashionable albums and tours with him before being saved by Ronnie though didn't they? LOL... sheesh.... spinning smiley sticking its tongue out

Its all good though..

God Bless The Stones...all of them.. Ronnie, Taylor, Jones, Wyman, Nicky, Stu, etc.

I guess this new term "Richardite" is just pseudonym a for "Woodite" or "Woodist". The logic of "Woodism" is that there is no other effective musical force than Richards (and Jagger in lesser degree) in The Rolling Stones, which could have something significant to offer to their music. Ronnie Wood is a perfect Rolling Stone for them, since he doesn't challenge The Big Boys any way, but is their humble servant. "Woodism" does not have directly a substance of its own, but expresses certain blind worship of The Glimmer Twins, and owns a very simple but "official" interpretation of band's music and history. Whereas "Taylorism" and "Brianjonesism" seriously challenge the picture of Richards and Jagger being alone responsible for the greatness of the music of The Rolling Stones. The typical feature of "Woodism" in practise is systematically belittle the contributions and significance of Brian Jones and Mick Taylor in the history of The Rolling Stones. Now and then.

I think we are all getting carried away with MT. Its great that he is playing with the band but someone posted above the Stones proved they are the greatest before MT took the stage last November.

Richardites say: the Rolling Stones proved they are still the greatest rock'n'roll band in the world. And they did so even before MT came on stage with them for MR on November 25 last year.

So what? The New-Born Taylorites say that with Taylor they became musically better and more convincing than before. Even the 'greatest' can be musically better - and I guess for the most of us crazy Stones followers they are the 'greatest' no matter they do. Isn't that in our fan DNA?

Actually that has been the underlying theme in all my posts throughout the years: What really makes the Stones so good or damn special that they can be called with that heavy-laden word. And I'm still in process trying to make some sense out of it... but getting there, getting there...

So, a bottle of wine would not be enough...grinning smiley

Well, the point is that as long as people have differing opinions (forever, that is), there will be someone spoiling someone else's party, and to be called as "whiners", "complainers", etc. All we can ask is some tolerance and good manners from each of us.

OK Doxa, fair enough...I look forward to your explication. I wouldn't know where to begin with dissecting that term. I just have to go with Justice Potter's famous description of pornography..it' hard to define, but you know it when you see it. Or, rather hear it, as in the case of the Stones.

Delusional.

Any one that honestly believes that Mick Taylor has "saved The Rolling Stones"
really can't even claim casual fan status.

The Rolling Stones(aka Jagger, keith, Ronnie and Charlie) didn't need "saving".
Good Lawd.

Has he added some fun and nostalgia to this tour??
Absolutely.

"Saved"??
Again.. delusional.

And that's the truth. Because we're all Richardites and Jaggerists of course. It's redundant to proclaim yourself a Richardite or a Jaggerist.

Yeah, good observation. Not only has Mick Taylor been thrust back into the lime light, he looks healthier, trimmer, and is playing well. I think no one needed to "save" the Rolling Stones, and this union has been great for both. But also, at the most he has played on four songs in a concert, and Ronnie continues to be their main lead guitarist. And he is doing quite well this tour.

Yes, exactly. It doesn't matter if they never play another note together, what happened happened, and nobody can take it away from us. To see Mick Jagger and Keith Richards exchange those smiles that said "can you believe this?" was worth all the years of waiting. At least to this Stones fan.

tele, you just wrote what i've thought, exactly, about that moment during Taylor's solo...i believe thats what you're referring to..

it is a great time to be a long-time Stones fan..they are indeed on another level now with Mick Taylor. not sure how biblical it is though..

no question its a renaissance for him, and he's having the time of his life..
