Oh no, it's just the nearness of you

It's not the pale moon that excites me
Baby, that thrills and delights me
Oh no, it's just the nearness of you

It’s not that your sweet conversation
That brings, brings this sensation
Oh no, it's just the nearness of you

When I’m in your arms and I feel you so close, so close to me
Oh baby, all of those wildest dreams, they come true

Oh no, it's just the nearness of you

It’s not, sweet babe, that you enchant me
If only you grant me, oh, the right
To kiss and hold you so tight
Oh, feel, feel in the night
Oh, the nearness of you, the nearness baby, the nearness, to feel
That’s the nearness of you

Feel in my mind, nearness babe, nearness, the nearness of you
Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, nearness baby
The nearness of you

Produced by The Glimmer Twins & Don Was

First released on:
The Rolling Stones - “Live Licks” 2CD
(Virgin 07243 8 75186 2 9) UK, November 1, 2004

Very good one but in my opinion it only fits playing a theatre or club. Don't knew whether it was a great idea to perform it outside on festivals or in stadiums in 2003.

My favourite rendition will always be the one on "Unkown Dreams". Even at wrong speed (or probably rather because of it) it never fails to move me. Some things just stick in your mind, I guess.

Has this been released on CD, vinyl or download format? I know it was on the Four Flicks DVD set???

Anyway, a nice excursion into lounge land that like maradona above noted, worked well at theatre level but not in the big stadiums. I guess Keith unearthed it in memory of his old man.

It's on the Live Licks album.

I love this version. I had it played at my wedding in 2010.

You can tell Keith truly loves this song. I think it's great and I love
the arrangement. I think Charlie likes it to.

I guess there are hints of beauty here, but to be honest, it bores me. Not a song I would go back to after one listen. All About You is much much much better!

I agree. Ever since Slipping Away, which I love, Keith has been over dosing on the "vocal stylings" stuff. This goes about two feet too far. The guitar is not an armrest, mix in a rocker and then a ballad......not a standard, no one cares about Rod Stewart anymore.......

Got to disagree with the both of you...I might not like an entire show of this (actually, maybe I would, never really thought about it) but this is a great version and diversion.

Fair enough. On BB HCIS kinda scared me, sounded like goodbye for some reason. I guess my paranoid side needs Keith balance. smiling smiley

Keith talks about The Nearness of You at the SARS concert: this interview used to be on his old website but all Youtube copies are missing the final few seconds. Anyone got it in full?
