Interesting to see them treating Ya-Ya's so dismissively, and yet Exile had already been rehabilitated into the recognition it deserved. I guess the latter was Lester Bangs' doing.

True but I was alway disappointed that they didn't release a album from the American leg
Of the tour. I was at the philly shows and had boots from other 75 tour of America and
They were all better then side 1, 2 and 4.

love you live was my first ever tape when i discovered the stones.

first impressions were mixed but i was curious as to what else they had and even more curious as to what exactly gave them the name of greatest rock band ever.

took me a while for love you live to grow on me, felt it was lazy and unrehearsed but it had a strange energy and sound that made me want to hear it again and again, by that time i had rolled gold and i was hooked for ever as a stone.

Glad the mag in 1977 noticed that the side 3 (El Mocambo) was exceptionnal. The playing is tight and the sound is quite unique. Keith Richards' tone is the best he has ever had on Around Around, Crackin' up, Manish Boy. For me those are among the best moments in The Rolling Stones' live recorded music. By the way they need to release the rest of the El Mocambo recordings on the bootleg serie, please.
Rock and roll,
Mops

Mops - I agree, side three redeems the album. I really don't like the rest of it. You Gotta Move is good but thats it for me.

I know some don't like the other sides. I got addicted to the stones in 1976-1977 so LYL was on constant rotation. So I still like LYL a lot partly for that emotional reason. But that side 3 was probably played more often than the 3 others.
Rock and roll,
Mops

Love You Live was my second Stone's album. I didn't know some of the stuff on it, well most of it! And it was thrilling when I first heard it. Very loud album, raunchy, and full of swagger. I do think a few of the songs aren't done very well, like Sympathy, but for the most part I like it. I especially love the opening and the If you Can't Rock Me/Get Off My Cloud melody. And of course, side three is amazing. They really should release that entire show.
