Far Far Away Lyrics
by Slade
[ Download Slade Ringtones ] [ Send to a friend ]

(Lea/Holder)
I've seen the yellow lights go down the Mississippi
I've seen the bridges of the world and they're for real;
I've had a red light of the wrist without me even gettin' kissed
It still seems so unreal.

I've seen the morning in the mountains of Alaska
I've seen the sunset in the east and in the west;
I've sang the glory that was Rome,
And passed the hound dog singer's home;
It still seems for the best.

Chorus
And I'm far, far away
with my head up in the clouds
And I'm far, far away
with my feet down in the crowds
Lettin' loose around the world
But the call of home is loud still as loud

I've seen the Paris lights from high upon Montmartre
And felt the silence hanging low in no mans land;
And all those Spanish nights were fine,
It wasn't only from the wine;
It still seems all in hand.

I've seen the yellow lights go down the Mississippi
The grand Bahama island stories carry on;
And all those arigato smiles
Stay in your memory for a while;
There still seems more to come.

And I'm far, far away
with my head up in the clouds
And I'm far, far away
with my feet down in the crowds
And I'm far, far away
But the sound of home is loud still as loud.

Good thing this is a European based site. I never would have figured that one out. We didn't have much Slade here by the Great Lakes back in the day. I've seen KISS and Bob Seger in highschool gymnasiums though.

A question for our British (and European) residence regarding Slade. I was watching The Office Christmas special and they're all singing the Slade Christmas song at the party. I have a Slade greatest hits album so I'm aware of the song but I doubt many people in North America know of it.
Is this song really popular during the holidays in Britain and do many adults actually know the song?

"Merry Xmas Ev´rybody" is a bit too slade-ish to be played in most moderate radio stations in Germany during Christmas time. They prefer to play Last Christmas 2 times an hour instead :-(

MERRY X-MAS EVERYBODY
Are you happy love, beside you on the wall
Is the time that every Santa has a ball
Does he ride red-nosed reindeer
Does he turn upon his sleigh
Do the fairies keep his soul but for a day

Chorus:

So here it is Merry Xmas
Everybody's having fun
Look to the future now
It's only just begun

Are you waiting for the family to arrive
Are you sure you've got the room to spare inside
Does your granny always tell you that the old songs are the best
Then she's up and rockin' rollin' with the best

Repeat Chorus once

What will your daddy do when he sees you by the Xmas Santa Claus
Ah ha

Are you hanging up your stockings on your wall
Are you hoping that the snow will start to fall
Do you ride on down the hillside in a buggy you have made
When you land and fall on your head then you will say

Repeat Chorus 3 times

Singers name´s Noddy ´older. Sorry, Noddy Holder.
They were said to be working in a proto-skinhead *
(talking fashion here, not politics) movement.
They come from Wolverhampton.
I´ve never heard that the band stopped at any point.
And now I see they have a uppdated site with tour dates 'n' stuff.
I recognize all the faces, except for Noddy´s.
Dave Hill is the showbiz guitarist.
From what I can read, Noddy is nowadays a British TV personality more than a rock singer.

My true favorites during ages 12-13 (along with Bowie, Stones, Zappa
in a quite nice pre-punk period); especially the song Thanks For The Memory.
Cum On Feel The Noize aint too bad either...

...From the latter, we can read that Noddy´s out.
