OT: Aaron Neville and Keith

Mister Neville had a new solo album come out recently where he does his take on the music that turned him on when he was growing up, starting out. Keith sits in as a session player. Really nice collection of tunes worth checking out.

I agree that "My True Story" is a very nice little record. The positive surprise about the studio band is the guitar playing of Greg Leisz who is mostly known as a pedal steel player.

Lovely album - at the time it was released there was also a TV special which I hope might turn up on this side of the pond eventually.

Its all true...all 6 words of it.

The Jordanaires added a bit of doo wop to the backing vocals along with soul, country and gospel...but Elvis didn't sing doo wop style very often. He was the hillbilly country cat influenced by early R&B...

But when big E did doo wop I forgave him

I like it too, sweet voice, not sure how much of Keith we can hear though although he's listed on every track...with another guitarist.

i've been on an elvis bender the past few days and will continue it into the weekend. the big e did plenty 'o doo wop and did it proudly and with panache. or something.

it's pre-determined...we're working chronologically through the 50's and 60's masters...we can't take special requests.

Yeah, but when it's Keith you can hear that feel - hear it for a thousand miles (as the saying goes)
Lovely album indeed - I don't consider doo wop a type of music I favour, but I play this one a lot
It's sweet but substantial - really good arrangements
