Not a bad question. I don't because I've been to a few where I've sorta not remembered a whole lot about the show the next day. I mean, after all, Stones shows are a festive atmosphere. Not happy about it, but I've learned from my past mistakes. There's plenty of time to drink AFTER the show.

Same experience here atip. Very sad to admit that I don't remember much about my first Stones concert at the Capital Center in Largo MD in 1975. My older sister took me with her and all her friends. We had been partying all day before the concert, were up in the nose bleed section, and couldn't see very well . I think I may have even dozed off for a while.

Anyway, fast forward to 2013 and I'm taking the same sister with me to one of the Philly concerts. We've both learned to tone it down, in fact, I'm just hoping I can actually get her to have a drink with me after the concert as she'll probably want to just go to sleep. Times do indeed change.

Doob's & Beer...only question is when to piss...my ritual - 1) right before the show, 2) during band introductions (getting back just as Keith lays down a riff) and 3) Start Me Up and then I am good for the warhorse run! Good to Go! Then a load on after the show!

Firing up a nice fat "Fajita" before the show and finishing it during the warhorses is most desirable and keeps you in check that you are out for a great night with your favorite band.

Not loaded. Like smoking some weed. Especially during one of my favorite songs, Midnight Rambler.

I didn't fire up at Staples. A couple beers seemed to go well with the set. That being said it was nice to be toked up for Ruby Tuesday, Paint It Black, and 2,000 Light Years From Home in '89.

Some young (early 20's) dudes beside me at the Beacon Theatre show for Shine a Light were lighting up spliffs like it was Bob Marley's Birthday (they were about three months early).

Before I knew it, I was the mayor of Cottonmouth city.
Champagne & Reefer soon sounded like a more reasonable drug policy.

1975 at the Spectrum in Philly. First row of the lotus stage - too drunk to remember the show. Best seats in the house and wasted, a big regret. My picture has shown up in some of Mike Barone's pics of that show.

1981 at JFK stadium in Philly, One of over 100,000 in attendance. Drinking "Iced Teas" ( iced tea and vodka). My friends got into a fight in front of the stage, Jagger commented " There are some people down there who are not so respectable" during Repectable.

"What a beautiful buzz...what a beautiful buzz".

God, I wish the Stones had brass balls and would play it one night just to finish up to the sound of crickets and see 18,000 gaping jaws.

Did they play Respectable in 1981?

At a Vegas 40 Licks show, I sat next to a highway patrol cop and his wife, and he was putting away the beers. He told me, "I live not far outside Vegas, but I, of all people, can't get caught drinking and driving. So my wife and I booked a Vegas hotel room for tonight. That way I can get drunk and not drive. I'll just go up to my hotel room after the show." Words of wisdom. (He did get pretty toasted as the evening progressed, yelling at Mick with cupped hands, as though that would get Mick to turn and point and say, "Dude yelling with the cupped hands, you're awesome!" Didn't work.)

The horror, the horror... confused smiley Leave drugs and alcohol to experience ppl. We're Stones fans after all, leave the strong stuff to Dead or QOTSA fans.

Stones fans wanting to play hard that reminds me of this :

Never have done any drugs.

But like to have a few glasses of chilled wine before the event and also during the show.

Last good blow out was one of the twickenham concerts, scored great tickets with 7 rows from the front for around £60 and still have memories of the concert even thou i was well tanked.

When I was a teenage, it was compulsory to get wasted before any evening entertainment. But when I see them at Hyde Park, I'll just have a little water beforehand. It'll be all eyes on stage and not worrying about needing to go to tehe toilet.

I saw the Stones at Wembley Stadium on the VL tour in 1995(ish), and speed (amphetemines) and weed were the order of the day, plus a few beers.

Now we´re all a little older...

So, do you still get loaded for the Stones show, or is it Viagra and Hot Chocolate?

Funnily enough my first shows were also Wembley for the VL tour. And I got way too out of it for one of them, but thankfully during the suuport act..I have posted this before but here's the story again, seems like an appropriate time to repost it....these days. just a few beers before a gig (unless I'm playing, then a coffee)

Summer 1995 Wembley Stadium. I remember this very vividly.First time I had seen them - I was 23, plus my other favourite band were supporting them (Black Crowes). I had bought a single ticket when I arrived in London from Australia, and so I attended by myself. Got there early and queued up in the sun for 5 hours before the gates opened. I didn't have so much as a bottle of water- didn't want to lose my spot to go buy one. So I was extremely dehydrated. Eventually the gates opened I and was right up the front, and was as excited as I've ever been. The Black Crowes came on and about 2 songs in I pulled out a spliff(joint) that I had left over from Glastonbury and sparked it up. Keep in mind I hadn't a drink or any food for hours. I got very stoned very quickly. Started to think I was perhaps a bit too wasted, when all of a sudden my vision went blurry, and red - as if someone behind me had reached around with a sheet of red celophane paper and was holding it over my face. Then something happened with my ears - the music turned into a loud drone like a giant bee. Couldn't hear instruments, vocals, drums or anything, just a loud drone. All I could see were red outlines on the stage and felt myself passing out and thought I have to get out of here. Then I remembered I was in a crush up the front of 80000 people or what ever it was, and there was no way I could go anywhere in my condition. I was freaking out bigtime. But then I started to hear a voice in my head saying Cmon man you've been waiting for this your entire life and now you're gonna f*ck it all up!! And unbelievably I managed to talk myself out of it, 1st my vision slowly came back, then I could hear the music again and I started to feel ok, like I had just gone through an exorcism! I was sweating like a madman. Funny thing was when I came to I was standing by myself with about a metre space all around me - I must have been falling all over everyone, as even in the crush there was space all around me as people had been trying to get away from this slobbering wasted long hair! After that I was ok, but bl00dy thirsty. Enjoyed the gig after that!!

That highway patrol cop nonetheless had a leg up on a taxi driver I once had in N. Calif. The Stones were playing on the radio and I asked the taxi driver if he'd ever seen the Stones live. He said, "I had a ticket to see them on their last tour. But I got so drunk the night before, that my hangover prevented me from making it to the concert the next day. I've never forgiven myself."

No, I'm mostly like the others here, I like to drink 2 or 3 beers at the most.
Enjoying the show, with a very slight buzz.

As much as possible.

I was lucky enough to have a hotel room within walking distance of 4 Bigger Bang shows.

I blew it out each time like I was in the contraband olympics. Amphetamines, xanax, Cali Kush, Vicodan, LSD, Heineken, Camel lights were all on the menu in Atlanta.

But, I've wised up and since quit smoking tobacco!

I have never taken stupefants at any gig: I just like being in control too much. I was offered amyl nitrate by a couple at Reading Rock, in 1995, when Neil Young and Pearl Jam played there.

I did smoke a spliff when I heard that Jerry Garcia died, and the last bit of weed I did was when I got my first class degree from uni. I felt I could relax my brain after all them Latin translations, and Greek tragedies.

The last bit of booze I touched was in 1990, when Mrs Thatcher left office, but I cannot drink as I have epilepsy, so not a good idea. Cigarettes I gave up after a chest infection, and I also tore the lining of my lungs.

I wish I knew. Everyone else I know is turning to religion or exercise as some kind of candy ass "pseudo-high". It's lonely being a dope fiend these days. But...times and the scene have changed as well. There's lots of folks out there in "NAZI-LAND" who just love to butt their noses in where it doesn't belong and screw up an otherwise good time for the rest of us.

I'm 55 now, and the last time I got blotto at a show was McCartney in 1989 at the L.A. Inglewood Forum. Great show, but I spent almost half of it either in line buying more beer or in line waiting to get rid of it. I realized how incredibly stupid it was to pay high prices for a ticket to a show when in reality at least half of was so I could take a piss while McCartney was playing in the background. I could have done that at home.

Anymore, no way in hell am I missing anything I paid hundreds of dollars a ticket for because I was stupid enough to drink away half the show. As for weed, haven't touched that since 1989 either. Asthma and smoking anything don't mix.
