Leeds on dvd would be something...

Hampton '81 DVD is unofficially available in pretty good sound quality (the picture quality is mediocre) but Live at Leeds '82 is not available at all in DVD, so that would be so great if they would release it, I personally like it even more than Hampton though Hampton is great too.

Does anyone still think this can still happen this year?

I didn't read any valid info about it and it would be surprising to see this one out cos there is "Sweet Summer Sun - Hyde Park Live " out in november

I would say in excellent sound quality. However, Keith is a little low in the mix in parts of the show.

Not a chance as there's an Eagle Rock product out in November of the Hyde Park show. Release for a 'new' product will understandably take precedence over an archives release as there's a more limited time to make a commercial impact with it - and as a Sticky Fingers deluxe reissue also appears to be in the works, I'd imagine that'll probably be pushed back a little too (and it was probably ahead of Hampton '81 in the queue)

This release was pushed back by Eagle Rock last year by the Hyde Park release..I agree I'd rather see some other thing I've never seen, but thats the Stones for you...

There MUST be better quality than this. Look at Some Girls in Texas, the video is so much better. But maybe I am wrong, maybe the PPV transfer was indeed in this quality, which to me looks like third VHS copy or so. As I wrote in another thread, Black Limousine was officially released as a bonus at the Checkerboard Lounge DVD and it is this poor picture quality. Still I hope I will see Hampton with sharp and vivid picture as the Some Girls in Texas DVD.

I'm pretty sure that Some Girls in Texas was shoot in film (for theater).
Hampton and also the live with Muddy Waters were filmed for TV with VHS cam. It could be good enough for dvd but not better images such as blue ray.

The Hampton show was shot on analog videotape for purely contemporary broadcast purposes. Thus, the resolution and overall image quality is rather on the low side, lower than 480 so there's no reason for it to be in 1080p on YouTube - the upscaling would barely make a difference. You can try remastering the original tapes, but too much meddling with it would only make it look worse in my humble opinion.

"Some Girls: Live in Texas '78" was shot on 16 mm film (as was Ladies and Gentlemen), which already gives you a much, much better starting point. Presuming they scanned the original negative or some other high quality film element (e.g. IP aka interpositive) in 2K resolution, and then worked on taking off dirt and scratches etc. with digital tools, you have a good shot at delivering a top quality product for us fans, which I'd like to think they did.
