...Since I wouldn't know what I was talking about here, I first Googled that shizzle; and I found (on some 'nerdy' forum) somebody saying:
"An 'SD Blu-ray' is a Blu-ray that has SD (i.e. DVD) quality video, but typically has HD quality audio tracks. (...) Because the original content -- could be a concert, show, or a low-budget film - was shot on video (in this case in standard definition). What this means is that the original content cannot be presented in high-definition. (...) Standard definition content on Blu-ray and standard definition content on DVD DO NOT LOOK THE SAME. Compression is far better on Blu-ray, as will naturally be the encoding, and you also get lossless audio. All in all, you get the best possible presentation of the content on Blu-ray."
Anybody dis-/agreeing with that?
P.S.: the 'audio'-part here sounds as the really important part, to me.

this format is more and more rarely used ...almost old fashioned now
I wonder if this new release will really bring something new or better than the Jointrip version which is quite good as far as the video quality and also audio is concerned.

Better release something in 4:3 than cutting top and bottom. This was done with many DVDs (not Stones)

What's funny is the Dec. 17 show which was some sort of dress rehearsal for the PPV (same guests and more or less the same setlist) is a f'king boring uninspired disatrous gig.
SFTD in particular is ugly. Two days later that song would be magnificient!
I wonder what Mick did to get the band to shake its collective @ss.

Id prefer Houston over Hampton even if it was the same exact setlist, simply because its a different show. We've probably all heard hampton hundreds of times. It would be cool to hear the songs played a little differently.Quote

Only worth doing a restoration if the Houston show had a significantly different set list to Hampton.

Another possible release in the future could be the Leipzig 2003 show. It was recorded for a DVD release and the show featured two guest appearances. Angus & Malcolm on Rock Me Baby and Chryssie Hynde on Honky Tonk Women.

Maybe this was mentioned already.....I looked around and didn't see anything (though I'm sorry if it has) but it seems from looking at Eagle Rock's website that there will be an official CD release of Hampton '81 with the BluRay edition of the concert.
