Feel free to check out my latest torrent at the Trader´s Den:

The Rolling Stones
The Coliseum, Charlotte, NC, July 06, 1972

Source: audience recording

Gen: master reel > DAT > CDR(3) > wav (EAC, secure mode) > flac (FLAC Frontend, level 8)

Setlist:
1. Bitch (cuts in)
2. Rocks Off
3. Gimme Shelter
4. Happy
5. Tumbling Dice
6. Love In Vain
7. Sweet Virginia
8. You Can´t Always Get What You Want
9. All Down The Line
10. Midnight Rambler/Band Introductions (cuts in)
11. Bye Bye Johnny
12. Rip This Joint
13. Jumpin´ Jack Flash
14. Street Fighting Man

Length: 65:48 (379MB )

Notes:
This sounds significantly better than VGP´s "Bring It Back Alive" CD.
Also available on the newer VGP "Drippin´ Honey" release which sounds more or less similar but -as usual with Japanese bootleg releases- is unnecessarily equalized and also running a tad slow. This lowgen is the best version of this recording.
The missing parts of the show (Brown Sugar, the first part of Bitch and the beginning of Midnight Rambler) were not recorded.
By the way this is a killer performance and one of the best sounding early 70s audience recordings I have ever heard.

Thanks Tornandfrayed! I don't quite understand the description though. Is this Drippin Honey or a lower gen/"pre-equalization" version of the Drippin Honey source?

Its Drippin Honey - Taylor's guitar line on LIV and GS is amazing as well as
the whole band.

Absolutely.

This is NOT the Drippin´Honey bootleg but a CD-R taken from a DAT (DigitalAudioTape) transfer of the original master reel.

VGP used this particular lowgen version of the Charlotte recording as the source for their DH release. They took this disc, unnecessarily modified the sound, put it on a "silver disc" and sold it for 50$.

I have this "low gen" since years, thanx to George (Hi George!). I must admit that it's one of the best of the 72 tour. If not THE best. But it runs too fast. I have listened to this one hundreds of times and still enjoy it.

I have speed corrected it (slowed down 75% of a semi tone) and compared it to VGP's Drippin' Honey which is also speed correct. Well, I think it's quite comparable and I think they might have used the same source.

Anyway A MUST HAVE!

I have downloaded this one too and changed the speed. Now it plays at the right speed...But I wonder if this one is an audience recording..To me it almost sounds like a soundboard, don't you think so ?

While it most certainly is no soundboard, this tape is a fantastic document. The sheer energy they are playing with is more than most contemporary performers have in their toes. At the moment I am completely overwhelmed by the Taylor leads on YCAGWYW (the major 7 ones in the second verse especially). To think of such lines is amazing, executing them with so much soul and subtlety is simply beyond. The whole band is rocking incredibly hard.

Get it!

Thanks for the torrent.

MCDDTLC:
1. Download a torrent program, such as www.torrentstorm.com
2. Register at the traders den
3. Find the Charlotte torrent
4. Download the torrentfile (it's around 25Kb or something) and save it somewhere
5. Open it with torrenstorm and start downloading
6. Decode the FLAC's (a good decoder is at: [home.wanadoo.nl])

While Charlotte is a brilliant show, I think Norfolk, Mobile and Akron are better shows. Unfortunately these shows are in much lesser sound quality. But in my very humble opinion, these four shows are most probably the best shows the Stones have ever played, in fact: the best any band has ever played!
