On the one hand I am excited. The band sounds refocused.

On the other hand I am really disappointed that the band chose to tour without a new album. And the price of the tickets (commented on ad nauseum everywhere) is another downer.

It will be interesting to see how the shows sell. This is the ultimate Rolling Jukebox tour. The state of the economy will certainly play a role...I can't see anyone but the upper .001% affording a ticket.

What a shame...the Stones had a chance to capture a new generation or two with a new album and reasonable ticket prices...

I would've liked to have heard comments of uninformed passersby who saw that sign atop that little club. "The Stones there?! WTF?! It must be a joke. Some Stones cover band. Or maybe they're filming a movie set in 1964."

I am the bpm man.

Obviously Chuck - as Keeper Of The Tempos - has gone back to the records and logged every original bpm. In my opinion this doesn't serve songs like BS, Tumbling Dice and ADTL very well, as you need that little extra burst of energy live...not a complaint, just an observation.

FWIW-
Not that I ever watch this, or anything, but right now on
the web show TMZ LIVE [www.tmz.com] they are going to
talk about how one of their guys won the Stones lottery and
saw the show..... If you wanna listen, click the link, see
the list on the left side? The bottom topic is ROLLING STONES,
then they talk about it. coming right up. You have UN-mute it, should work easy.

Well, the guy told the same story about the lottery etc
etc...and then said how great the show was.... and said go
see The Stones if you get a chance, they are great... so good publicity.
Maybe TMZ the TV show will talk about it tonight, not that I would admit watching it

I am a life-long, hardcore Rolling Stones fan and never - ever - dreamed I would see them in a club like this. It was a long, stressful day waiting in line that ended joyfully (I did not have a winning "lottery" ticket but we persisted and got in)! I am still in a fog and can barely concentrate on anything else. Spent all day at work explaining how I got in to people. I am going to have to write a detailed blog for my own sake and to share. Thank you for being here IORR - it's fun seeing the photos and hearing from others who were there. And yes, I got Jagger-spit-water all over me - I was near the front and center, which was incredible!

Re that "Brown Sugar" clip...

It is really a treasure to listen and watch Keith Richards there. He is really getting better and better gig by gig since he started to play the guitar again. I can't recall when that simple riffage has sounded so cool and groovie. Keeping the rhythm down-down-down with that idiosyncratic timing, and those little tasty runs here and there. No bullshitting - just focused doing the right thing. The biggest rock guitarist in the world with the epitaph - "kids, don't try this at home"... The old "touch" is there, and Keith, for god's sake, is hitting the realm of "cool" again.

I think slowing down the rhythm is a good move for this "matured" band. The song sounds "sexier" than it has for ages.
