So, I just got an old columbia portable viva tonal grafonola from the 30's, and need some cool records to play on it.
I think I already know the answer to my question, but there are lots of stuff out there I don't know about smiling smiley

I believe there are some Indian pressings of the Stones from the 60s. Must be really rare.

I think I read about them on IORR for that matter.

You'll be looking for awhile I suspect to get a copy!

There is Rock and Roll on 78s. At least Chuck Berry and the other famous guys from the 1950s. The Beatles definately made 78s in India, I had one in my hands. Couldn't afford it though. Have fun with your piece of history.

You can play your own Stones records at 78 rpm ...
make 'em sound like Alvin and the Chipmuncks.

I ruined an old E.P. of The Stones in the '60's.

Had an old H.M.V. 78's player in the house and no new fangled player for 33's and 45's.

Decided to try it out on the 78's player and it started gouging out the groove.

Still got it and I think the E.P. is audible in a few parts. confused smiley

Yeah lettingitbleed, thats what I thought aswell, but Elvis, Beatles and Johnny cash, to name a few, have all released 78's. Why not the Stones smiling smiley

I tried an old CCR record, and it worked. But it played it too fast ofcourse.
All the records that came with it are all norwegian artists singing old goldies, so I really need som rock n' roll in my collection.

Yes, this would be quite a unique piece.

I wonder if any are actually in existence?

Here's something you really don't see, ever. Newsweek Magazine doesn't even publish a print edition anymore, but there was once a time when visually impaired news junkies could get their fix from 8, that's right, 8 rpm records!

Yes, I always get those two 60s bands mixed up...you're probably right!

I don't see anything post 1965. I'm guessing that's when they stopped making them?
