Tell Me
Plundered My Soul
Mixed Emotions
Love Is Strong
Route 66
Mother's Little Helper would be fun.

Please pay attention to some early ones, and some later ones. Not just the classic era ones.

(OK, Love In Vain, No Expectations, Stray Cat Blues, and Message from Turner would be particularly nice.)

someone said Silver Train and To much Blood. Those two would be good except I don't think they can play them anymore. Maybe is Taylor is on stage but I don't think Keith can handle it. But there are some great suggestions on here. Interesting ideas.

Keith wouldn't need to be onstage for Too Much Blood. Keith wouldn't need to be in the county... Don't think Micky T would want to play it but he's welcome to it...

If this is really the last time they perform live together (and this is the first time I've considered the possibility) ending the setlist with "Time Waits for No One" would consumate a spine-chilling sendoff. Mick Taylor reappears to perfect his extended solo as Jagger croons "Drink in your summer, gather your corn. The dreams of the night time will have vanished by dawn."

I don't believe it's ever been performed live.

How about the Gimme Shelter style version of Satisfaction??? Picture Mick Taylor wailing on guitar while my main man Jagger says, "I ain't gonna give you no bullshit, I ain't going to give you no lie. I need a good audience to keep me satisfied." smiling smiley

As the obligatory cover on the setlist:

John Fogerty's

The old man down the road

The Stones only cover, I would say (so: imho), songs that inspire(d) them -
not the ones that, in either way (even ever so slightly), are inspired by them.

That's why I always wondered where the h*** that "Like a Roliing Stone" (94-95) came from!

But anyway.

I think Dylan's lyric, 'like a rolling stone' is in reference of being like one of the stones. I thought it was clever when they decided to cover a song somewhat about them to begin with, being they are the Rolling Stones. A great cover too, probably the best save Dylan's original recording.

While I'm at it let me suggest another song: Sad,Sad,Sad. Haven't heard that since the wheels tour I think.

Here's how I think they can freshen up their set list with a few rarer songs, transition Mick Taylor in and out beautifully, and pay tribute to former members and some of the great musician who have played on stage with the Stone through the years.

Immediately after Keith's set:

Keith plays the opening riff to Can't You Hear Me Knocking --
Mick Jagger & Mick Taylor step out of the darkness as the band plays a proper live version of a great Stones song.

then (with Taylor):

Plundered My Soul (or Little Queenie)
Moonlight Mile (or Winter or Let it Loose)
Sway

Taylor exits, then:

Like a Rolling Stone (with pics of Brian Jones, Bill Wyman, Mick Taylor, Ian Stewart, Nicky Hopkins, Bobby Keys & Billy Preston playing with the Stones flashed on the video screen throughout the song -- a fitting tribute to these great former members and musicians who helped contribute to the Stones legacy and a great transition from Mick Taylor's spot)

then:

take it home with strong finish starting with Start Me Up

I think this will bring a smile to many faces -- the young & the old fans, the hard core & the casual fans (and just possibly the Jonesies, Taylorites & Woodies)

Let It Loose

Re: Rare Stones songs the fans would love to hear

For the posters who want Taylor on Let It Loose:

Wouldn't that be a "wasted" opportunity? Taylor didn't play on the studio recording. And much of his rhythm guitar track was wiped from Little Queenie on Ya Ya's.

I agree it would probably be cool with Taylor on these songs, hence it would be interesting hearing what others think he could contribute to those songs

Let it Loose is one of my all time favorite Stones songs -- the bluesy, gospel feel and Mick's vocals give me chills every time I hear it. I'd love to hear it live, but I know it would be tough to duplicate that feel on stage (the keyboards, backing vocals, brass etc). But I think with Mick Taylor on stage they might be able to pull it off and give us something special. Without him, you could be looking at another Tops / Philly 1981 incident.

Yeah, I agree. And they could make room for a solo where the brass theme is. Then again, I love that brass theme smiling smiley
