Best Live Song In Modern Era, 89 to present day

That post about Satisfaction from Gimme Shelter got me thinking. While the Stones sound became too rugged and guitar driven to play many of their 60's hits, it seemed that in 81 they started to play some of these songs again (UMT, LSTNT, Time is on my side, ect.) Starting in 89 we all know how the live performance as we knew it had changed so I was thinking what are some of the tunes that people feel are the Stones' best live these days. A few off the top of my head that I think they really cook on are...

Black Limousine (loev the Stripped version)
Monkey Man
Worried About You

What are yours...

It's all based on your mood as of the writing. As for now:

Not released after 89 just songs that you think they play very well these days.

Midnight Rambler....when played properly, like on Four Flicks. Gritty, filled with tension, tempo changes....everything the Stones do best is in a live version of Midnight Rambler, IMO

for me, 2000 LYFH was the ultimate showpiece on '89 tour, perhaps the most ambitious piece ever tried live. i saw it 6 times and it was stellar each time.

in B2B tour, the new songs were great (and of course, then abandoned): out of control, saint of me, ASMB, flip the switch.

in 1999, hearing some girls done well was amazing,

and on 2002-3, i was very impressed with (some versions, not all) Dance (orpheum), CYHMK (orpheum, philly FUC), and the 2 songs from Exile side2 sweet va. and ?? at the ahoy in rotterdam. the most amazing bootleg song i ran across (but didn't see live) was their cover of THSMLI from roseland.

i think they should play these songs every night!

who knows what the next tour will bring? it's a different energy every gig!

No contest: MIDNIGHT RAMBLER

I was going say Midnight Rambler as well because in my opinion that has always been their greatest live song. I just thought I'd throw some others in there because I know many will argue that MR was played at its best from 69-73. Although I think they still rock when playing this song. It was great in Hartford 2002, Keith seemed to be giving the solos something extra. MSG was also incredible.

Midnight Rambler for me also.I don't know whether it's the changes in tempo but this song always works for me.

Loved Street fighting man from stripped.
Wow, Keith sounded like he was back in 69 or 72. Why cant he play like that on stage all the time.

Midnight Rambler, 19th Nervous Breakdown, Get Off My Cloud, IORR, dozens more. 1989 - present is the best.

From FF, my favorite performances are Midnight Rambler from MSG, Street Fighting Man (B-stage, Twickenham) and That's How Strong My Love Is (Olympia). When the group is on top of their game, they are still the greatest rock n'roll band in the world. Bring on the next tour!

Midnight Rambler (especially the MSG version on Licks DVD) and Keith's one handed opening of HTW.
