My friend in Boston told me that this has been all over the radio stations that so many seats for the show there are not selling. Making the Stones look bad

Thats a fact. Ticket Brokers taking it in the shorts!

Look at stub hub lots of tickets being sold below face value.

Also appears that tomorrows show in LA is stating to get a little more interest.

I wonder how. Anyone posting here in LA? Are the radio stations giving blocks

of tickets away?

I've just discovered and registered with stubhub thanks to seeing your post.
I love you.
Thank you.

No problem!

I would keep a close eye on them and wait it out a little more.

PRICES ARE FALLING!

It's a major embarrassment. Someone got it very wrong - but very right for Hyde Park. It's at least three times the capacity of most US arena shows but it's the only show that's sold out (apart from Glastonbury, which was sold out before the headline acts were announced, so that doesn't count). It doesn't take a rocket scientist to work out the bottom line. The problem is this might have ruined it for any future shows after this batch.

In complete honesty... not joking... AES needs to come out an apologize for the pricing. Just straightup say 'we got greedy' and then change the pricing model is a big meaningful way. Ultimately Jagger + Co are responsible for the prices as they signed off on them, BUT, they can save face by saying 'see, they fixed it'.

Tomorrow we will find out if the $85 are really 'throughout the arena' or just 'around the upper deck'. We will find out if they play an adventurous set or if its the same old stuff as the limited 2012 run. If there are big empty sections in the arena, it will be reported.

THIS IS EMBARRASSING!

Feeling a bit embarrassed at the moment to be a Stones fan...last time I felt this way was when Mick released solo material.

Not a great way to celebrate 50 Years and Counting... confused smiley

With that said, I'll hold my head high at all upcoming shows with my $85 tix which will more than likely be the last time I see them live.
I will always enjoy their reorded musical legacy (1963-1981), but will be hesitant to wear a Stones short in public.

edit: ^ Meant to say "Stones shirt" above. (I do have a pair of Stones shorts, but I never wear them in public anyways).

I hope all the shows will be sold out. Expect the reviews from the fans attending concerts (if they speak about that point).

Nothing sadder in any case than an arena half empty. I remember the Paris Stade de France in 2007... Bad memory.

Same with Berlin same tour - lots of empty seats. It was not good to see and kept the spirit down.

It is not embarrassing, it is show business.
Sometimes you can pull a rabbit out of the hat...
and other times the rabbit is just not in the mood.

Gotta admire The Stones for pushing the envelope,
but there are always dangers when you push the envelope.

It stands to reason that the initial $85.00 tickets were a result of the Stones insisting on lower ticket prices during tour negotiations. The promoters probably had no intention of setting any ticket prices that low, but they compromised. So at least thank the Stones for that. The promoters blew it! It's their job to know the market. They smugly set the ticket prices with the 2012 shows in mind thinking it was a lock. They simply miscalculated. Of course we would all feel better if we were to get some kind of announcement that the inflated ticket prices were actually the result of an agreement between the Stones and the promoters to block the scalpers with the end result being additional low priced tickets going to the fans.

I think part of the problem is after the first 5 shows in London, Jersey and Brooklyn, we were told that if they added gigs in 2013, expect ticket prices to be " more reasonable" and with the exception of the $85 seats, it is just not so. When you're looking at way over $600 for a loge seat, meaning not a floor seat but on the side, up one level, it is very discouraging. Figure it out for one seat, transportation, hotel, food etc...a 2 hour show costs well over $1000!!!!
Maybe it will all work out for fans this time! If they want a halfway respectable showing, prices will have to drop, probably last minute.

I don't even know how to respond to this, you admire them for trying to milk the most money out of their fans. Unless you are in the business of concert promoting shame on you.

I will gladly go see Dylan or Neil Young play for $40 a ticket and listen to them "push the envelope" playing different new or different material.

It is breaking news all over the world - they are really in deep shit, it is a big shame, come back tour and a 50'th anniversary and so big lack of ticket sales. It is a misery.

I do not agree with the high ticket prices. But if they would have done a few less shows. Like eliminated the 2nd show at some cities. The 3rd Chicago show. Given at least one more month for sales. IMO all would have been good sold out shows. Just way too many shows too close together in calif especially

Stones did win NME's "Best Live Act" for the 02 shows. If that's fulfilled with the Staples Center and other early shows, reluctant people might hear and finally buy a ticket. (Who knows?)

Seriously?

I don't know if you realize this or not, but the unemployment rate in the United States is still sky high after the economic collapse of a few years ago. The fact of the matter is that the average person doesn't have $1,250 to spend on two bad seats for a two hour concert Then add the price to park $50, dinner $150, drinks etc.. Your looking at a $1,400 night for a couple to go to a concert. That's absurd.

I am a die hard Rolling Stones fan and I simply refuse to pay that price and it seems the majority of people are in my corner.

I can confirm this. The DJ's were basically laughing at the Stones and calling them greedy businesmen. After what happended here (Boston area) a few weeks ago I can think of a lot of better ways to send $1,250 than going to a concert thrown by the suits...Uh, I mean the Stones.

You know, this is the thing - they could have got $600 for the first few rows on the floor and MAYbe some of the rows right near the stage in the 100s. But everyone who's been to a concert knows the seats in the back aren't great and having those be the same price is insane.

MOO. I shelled out for one of the $450s because I've never seen them and this is likely my last chance (I live in Nashville but had planned to be in S Cal to visit friends anyway so decided to attend.) Just a shame, it seems like such a lost opportunity - imagine if folks had been dying to buy tix and reporting on the great shows, rather than the entire story being about the ridiculous tickets.

And seriously! 50th anniversary, tickets should have been HALF price to thank the fans, rather than this sky-high business. Bah.

"Just a poor girl in a rich man's house" * Rockin' in Nashville, TN!

Really JumpinJackOLatern? The $85 ticket 'promo' was and is a fumbled PR stunt/bait and switch. The press has so far reported that press release almost verbatim 'Stones tickets are as high as $2,000, but look! you can go for only $85!' I'm certain that the negotiations with Dainty/Virgin collapsed when that promoter did their math and KNEW that the numbers wouldn't work in today's economy. MJ & Co. DO ask for a absolutly guaranteed sum, and that's it. Michael Cohl woo'ed them in '89 by doing so, and they've done it ever since. The only reason for the outrageous ticket prices this time is that MJ & Co. (and it is Mick, he still plays naive over what people have to pay to see them,) is the band have demanded an absolute of $XX millions for XX number of shows. They, not any promoter, have set the requirement for stepping on the stage. What DOES amaze me is that my beloved heroes knew what tickets would HAVE TO sell for to get this paycheck, and thought we could pay it! That said, I'm gonna be way up in section 216 here in LV on May 11, $250.00 +service charge and handling fees...

Tomorrow night is D-Day for The Stones.

We will all know on Saturday the full story of $85 tix allocation.

Some in the pit and great seats, and others in the nosebleeds.

I realy hope that $85 were not on the top deck, but they gotta fill the arena and the next $85 tix drop will be all the left overs, which are gonna be a lot................great and not so great.

Hopefully a great setlist and Mick T on more than 2 songs.

We will have some idea of the pattern of the tour in North America.

Have a great time all you lucky fans going tomorow night.
Have a ball. winking smiley

Hi`- I have read these posts about bad ticket sales....NO ticket sales are not that bad....remember- if stubhub etc or any other broker buys tickets, the tickets ARE sold as far as the Stones and AEG.... Money is Paid!!! Now, in Philly for both shows about 1,800- 2,000 are still available... and I check Stubhub everyday and they are selling... the areana will hold 19,000, so do the numbers if 2,000 dont show about half of that HAVE been paid for buy 3rd parties... and with the different levels of prices.. the average price for a ticket is about 300 bucks or so.... with that said at that price they only need to sell about 14,000 to 15,000.. anything else is gravy.... and remember the 3rd parties have already PAID AEG and the Stones.... so yes, the shows will be close to sell outs......if not sold out... at this point... if they sell tickets for 150 bucks average... the boys and AEG are making out big time... its not like they are going to the Staples Center and playing to 1,500... it will be packed.....The boys are not stupid, these prices where set knowing that the 3rd parties would gobble up the expensive tickets....along with the public... Philly is almost sold out with over a month to go....Ticket sales are just fine and going as planned...dont kid yourself

the thing is, many of us remember when Rolling Stones tickets were hard to get.

Yes, they will dump them all, they will paper the house so as not to look so bad. Nobody cares if they will make money, I'm sure you are right on that. But they will have lost their reputation, that's what has (some) people upset. Rationalize whatever you want, they go out with people laughing at them.
