i have a dream!
Date: February 16, 2005 16:59

I make a summary of it;
- Darryl Jones isn't the stones bass player anymore. It is replaced with Flea
or Wimbish;
- Ronnie plays his guitar as during the 70's and early 80's.
- Mick gives up his 'Pop' voice, and return to sing with his old dirty voice.
- Keith stop to sing his boring ballads and return to make rock.

Let's hope for the best for the next album!!!!!

Additional dreaming:

-Chuck is replaced with Ian MacLagan
-Blondie is out
-Mick's uses his harp more often
-No 'Sheryl Crow's' this time
-Less horns, more guitars
-no official live release afterwards

I could go on and on...

Isn't it a good thing to have dreams ? Sometimes they become true, in this case they won't. Talking of dreams come true: I had a banner for the boys for the last shows they did on the 1999 BtB pt.II tour saying "STONES 2000 + - MAKE A DREAM COME TRUE". When Keith came down to the front row and saw my sign he was smiling, pointing at it and saying twice "It will come true". He was so close you could easily read his lips. Nice memory!

Wahwah i think you're right, my dreams won't become true, except that about Darril Jones.
I'm conviced that 99,9% of stones fans would be happy to see a new bass player. We are the people who buy stones albums and concert tickets then it would be right listening our requests.
We want a new bass player because Darril Jones isn't up to play with the Stones.
He can play in another good band except the stones; his bass lines are not suitable with stones music...too dull, often imperceptible.
I think it's not a dream to change bass player;
I dont understand why at the time Keith chose this guy.

Charlie picked Darryl, actually.

I don't think the Stones want anyone new
who stands out or in any way, except as
a session player, is a part of the band.
As such Daryl provides good yeoman service
and I suspect is unlikely to be replaced.

Re: i have a dream!

i think is not impossible to send a message to Charlie, i can give the idea:
"Dear Charlie,
we respect your decision about the choice of darryl jones as stones bass player.
He's a good and solid bass player but unsuitable to play stones music.
In our opinion he has to be replaced.......""

Except my orrible grammar mistakes, is there a possibility to send a message to charlie??!!

Add capital letters to the proper nouns.
Still, I highly doubt they'd listen,
and c'mon -is he that bad?!?

Re: i have a dream!
Date: February 17, 2005 01:11

he isn't that bad.....he isn't simply unfit to play with the stones!!!!

Why isn't he fit?

Surely you're a great fan of the stones and surely you've heard the old songs for many times.
Have you ever heard, for example, the live version of 'Let it bleed' 1981?
Bill Wyman got more than his due; he didn't follow the rhythm.. he made the rhythm.
He got that ''swing'' in his way to play bass that misses in Darril.
I repeat that Jones is a good bass player, but the stones needs a person more creative.
I hope you understand what i said...be patient with my grammar mistakes!!

I agree that a Darryl's playing lacks teh swing in Bill's playing.
Still, I can't imagine they would replace him after 11 years.
I don't think they will replace anyone in the touring band, actually.

I'm convinced 99.9% of people couldn't care less

If they did, it would be the first time. Personally, thats way down the list of priorities. I'm more concerned with not being bankrupted by ticket prices on the next tour than who plays the bloody bass.

However, to say they should make artistic or musical decisions based on the requests of fans is the most nonsensical idea imaginable. Buying a few albums or concert tickets doesnt make you more qualified to have an opinion on musical direction of the band than the guys who are actually IN the band.

Nonsense

he didn't. He left it to Charlie. And if Charlie finds him musically compatible, who is anyone else to dispute it.

And why the hell would Flea want to leave a band with 3 of his closest friends and which is at it's commercial peak to play a minor role in a band like the Stones. If Jones' style does'nt suit the Stones, I doubt Flea's would either.

Why the hell are people complaining about Darryl Jones??? I don't get it at all. People should be happy to see the Stones and stop bitching!

And Blondie stays as eye candy for me, ok?! (Along with the fact he IS a talented musician.)

muevas, are you a bass player? DR

Re: i have a dream!

Mick's voice was fantastic during Licks-tour. I think. I actually think his voice was the worst in them golden days in the mid-seventies. With a few exceptions like LA 75 - but perhaps this is because he performed so goddamn well in some of those shows. It's not so black and white.....

Keith's ballads are all great, but perhaps not suitable for stadiums and arenas. At least a lot of talking is going on and quite a lot are waiting for Mick to return to the stage. But to be without those ballads....no way.

What's to get? People like to complain. I know - I'm a people and I like to complain. You don't? I think you should take that to the complaint dept.

Giantwhore says:""People should be happy to see the Stones and stop bitching!""
I'm happy to see the stones...but i'm sad to listen Darryl!

Muevas! No slight intended,
with the English correction;
I admire your efforts and it
seems to be coming along
just fine. Bravo!

I don't get why people bitch about the Stones and they're backing band. Seems pointless. What's the alternative, to not see them live? I seem to be way more logical than most stones fans on here when it comes to this subject matter. That's quite scary.

They need a backing band, but the dream would be to never again have to hear Miss You, Tumbling Dice, Brown Sugar, Jumping Kack Flash and Like A Rolling Stone ever and ever again live!!!???

Darryl will never leave until it stops! Charlie and Darryl are a great rhythm combination.Why would the change the bassplayer. Darryl knows almost every song. He how to play it and he knows how to play with the Stones
