Damn I love this version of Gimme Shelter!

Love this version. Nothing beats the first couple of minutes with Lisa before Mick starts singing. And her lookeye popping smiley

This is now mandatory to be watched everyday up to the Hyde Park concertsmoking smiley

Me don't like

This is not rock'n roll, this is some kind of cheap "women-watching-TV-series-feelings"
I'm sure this video clip would feel nice if knitting and eating cookies at the same time

I like it. It's darker than the usual way. Fits the mood.

oh god, that was horrible. It sounded like i´d just entered a store selling crystals, rainsticks and ambient waterfall sounds CDs.

when is this from?

i´m off to listen to some 75 versions to cleanse (or dirty-up) my ears

yuk!

I think nearly all 2003 and 2006 versions of Gimme Shelter were lame.

1995 and 1998 were very very good and also Gimme Shelter during the first London 2012 show was quite good.

But nothing can compete with this one..

Thank you for posting that version. As I started to read through this thread, this performance came to mind. I love the slow and methodical version. Very close to the album, relying less on the backing musicians...

Henrik87 - I am with you on the 1995 Amsterdam version, My all-time favorite. That is a show that should be released in its entirety both on CD and DVD. This version just blows all others away. Again the old Taylorites will pick it apart but I like this one.

Heading For An Overload is good but I like the Paradiso version best.

Gimme Shelter 25.11.12 was great right up to the point when Mary J Blige opened her mouth. Florence Welch on 29th was in a different league.

the 95' Amsterdam is smokin'

The overall mix is good.

To the Rolling Stones: Listen to Ronnie's guitar.

Mix his guitar and everything else like this one.

Result = more happy fans

+1 I knew it would be a Vegas version of the song when I read the title of the thread. You never have to promote the 70s versions of Gimme Shelter.

The first performance I would throw in with what they have been doing with SFTD for years as a band travesty. The Amsterdam performance is much more enjoyable and is probably the best the band can do with it. I can do without Jagger's bump and grind with or without her.

Wow, what an unnecessary sexist statement. if it would be racist or homophobic remark it would draw attention. but with sexism apparently no one has any problem

Why would I pick on people with other skin-colour or people with other preference when it comes to sex? I think you are one cynical person, suggesting this, Mary
Shame on you

Erik, I'm not going to suggest anything to you - it's not your first sexist remark and probably not the last. I can not stand sexists, we have no common ground

I must stand up for Erik and his great sense of humor...as opposed to being sexist.

"Gimme Shelter" in 1969 and 1970 was AMAZING.

They're all nice enough, but if Liberace were alive he'd have been able to guest on one or two of the later versions, no problem.

I have no problem with sex, Mary, so I don't understand your issue. But when it comes to racist remarks, or your hints about picking on fags; I'm astonished about your attitude. We don't live in the 1700s, Mary !
