Let me know: What about taking a pee when you´re in the 1st row all day?
Posted by: RawIguanaCologne ()

I mean this is serious, there are different types of being early, being in front, but hey!! Folks, you won´t tell me that you got through the whole days without using a toilet, without haing a drink and still be excited and happy, when the Stones get in! I mean , I´m one of the most excited guys when it comes to our band, but I always had to help myself out in many inventurous ways...

What are your experiences - please be honest!

Ahoi from Cologne

Why don't you talk to a doctor?

I should talk to a doctor, cause it´s so unusual to get a little shaky being in a moshpit for more than five hours - does this mean I´m not a real fan?

A friend of mine who LOVES his beer, swears by these things...even when sitting in an arena.

Personally I could live without, but if in GA/front row all day, I might have to consider them.
But what do you do when it's all filled up? Throw it at the stage? >grinning smiley<

Let that warm stream just run down your leg, and on out the door. No one will know...

Pee in bottle?

1. Make friends with the people around you.

2. When leaving to get beer or pee, make sure that everybody sees you leaving, they will recognise you when you come back.

3. Stop drinking an hour before the Stones come on.

That was always exactly what I did the last 20 times, and it´s been good.

But I asked this question with the map of the HYDE PARK on my mind, where it looks like a great bottle neck in FOS (General Admission), if you´d be leaving this narrow sector and wanna come back, you´ll die trying!!!!

I'm not sure if I'm going to be there, but I expect rest rooms and concession stands probably just behind where the area apparently narrows. Anybody know what it was like for McCartney and Springsteen?

Ugh, looked on google for other people's questions and replies about this... seems it's common for people at concerts to piss in bottles and cups and throw them in to audience. Gross! eye popping smiley

Absolutely, Beach Boys even wrote a song about it . . .

"She's my little deuce poop
You don't know what I got"

So, the poster has a problem with where to go to the bathroom in Hyde Park? I'd have to think Hyde Park has taken a lot of abuse over the years, from both people and their pets, even when there isn't a concert. Don't worry about it.

Just don't drink or drink very little. I was roped into going to Robbie Williams (my wife is a fan) and had to wait in front row all day. The smell of urine made you want to retch.

Isn't this everybody's problem? What would be the problem with just go around the corner for a second?

Well, Raw Iguana from Cologne, I could tell you a good story, but, hey, I am in doubt who you may be, just having emerged on this screen, and, to start your posts with such a personal and delicate question.

What admorgan suggested sounds OK, but it may hold good only till maximum up to one hour prior to the concert start.

But, going back to a time when it was no problem to bring in drinks and things: What would you do after hours in first row or very close to the stage, in the mid of the heat of the gig, after maybe having had so many stimulations and lots of drinks, and suddenly your bladder threatens to burst?

If you've got something to tell: What's your story, then?

EDIT: syntax

Generally I choose the worst moment... I leave my spot, go to the loo, when I'm back the pit crowd has doubled in size and everyone thinks I'm jumping the queue.

That's exactly as it is.

I always have this dilema too. Everyone does. While queuing in front of the entrance, I always tell the people behind me that I go to the bathroom and that I will be right back. Never had a problem with that. Once inside the venue, it is pretty much the same. I always ask the people around (if I am not with anyone else) to keep my place and I leave my bag there. I only leave thigs that I could cope without in the case I would not be able to get back. But that actually never happened. It is important to estimate when will the people in the pit stand up and go to the toilet before. Once everyone stands up and it gets really crowded, it is way more difficult to get back. Not impossible but you would have to fight your way back. Literally. It is sometimes difficult even with people still sitting on the ground, but it is usually not a big problem. I never dring when I get inside the venue, which in the case of an outdoor venue is 3-4 hours before the show. I have been lucky so far, that I haven't had to wait in extreme heat.

My most fanatic Stones days were the late nineties. In Stuttgart in 1999 I had found
a place in the front, and despite the heat I hardly drank, I only had some smokes and I remained in the front (not first row though) during the fantastic concert. It is a great memory, but I would not do it nowadays. By the way, the upcoming dates are seated, so if you buy a first row ticket you can drink lots of beer and return to your seat over and over again.

In 98 and 03 (both times front row) I held "it" for 12 hours. No problems...

Yes, I've never had an issue. You can always get back. You can normally get pretty far down the front at any show if you try hard enough. At some gigs (motorhead) you're better off near the back!

I'll be throwing my 2 litre cola bottle of pee at the toffs in the segregated cattle pens down the front ;-)

...couple of Stones cliches that might be helpful:

(a) Just do as they do - just "piss anywhere, man!"...

(b) ...or wait untill the Keith-slot starts; then go.

Hey dead.flowers, don´t worry, I´m not that new on this board, but haven´t been here for a few years as an active member. (I was KingBeeCologne in 2001-2008 or sth)

Thos particular topic is not my main topic and I dont wanna make silly topics, but it´s quite a thing if you´re in front row and they won´t let you get back, not?

So please tell your story.

And once more: Hyde Park is not seated, am I right?

Sorry but that is inside information we keep for ourselves...

To be honest, just like climbing big mountains, ending up and staying in row one at a show takes a lot of training, planning, experience and a bit of luck. Some basic rules I will share:

1. Keep fit
2. Drink a lot hours and days before the show (not alcohol)
3. Queue up in time. Some times early morning. Be first in line.
4. Eat a good meal one hour before you enter the site
5. Bring compact energy like chockolates
6. Do not drink the last hour or so before you are stuck FOS
7. Grab water once inside, wherever it is (beg from security or buy)
8. Make friends - they will keep your spot if you need a bathroom break
9. Read all IORR pages about your show (should come first...)
10. Don't be disappointed if you screw up - the show is great also fgrom row 2-10...

Well that's for a start. Personally I like it just as well in the middle of the crowd, well in the middle of the front that is, even some times in nosebleed seats, just to see how it is, but I have to admit I have felt a bit desperate up there at times, even if you see and hear the same band, from a distance. Being in touching disctance with Mick and Keith and Ronnie when they move around makes a certain difference still.
