Thanks for explaining how it works. So will the $85 tickets be allocated based on what's not sold? Or does Ticketmaster put a hold on a certain block of tickets and then later randomly allocate these among the $85 tics?

It will be really really sad if the $85 tickets suck! Kina ruins the whole purpose, I think. Fingers crossed for all.

My wife occasionally works for a venue that uses Ticketmaster so she's familiar with their ticketing software. Basically, she said this situation seems as follows...

Let's say they have 1,000 tickets for the $85 price. What they do is place a hold on that amount of tickets and create a completely separate "show" in the system for that block of tickets. This is also why they were on their own page and not part of the dropdown menu on the general on-sale.

That being said, for the separate "show" that has been created, all the TM system knows is how many tickets are available, not where the seats are. As far as its concerned, its a block of GA tickets (and by GA I dont mean PIT).

Therefore, the section/row/seat that is showing for your tickets really is just a placeholder and does not correspond with any particular section of seating.

There are a few different ways they can determine the seats. It could be completely random, it could be first-com, first-serve for the "best" seats. Most likely, it will be completely random.

===========================================

Cliff notes:

The seat locations showing on our receipts are absolutely nothing more than placeholders.

Thanks for sharing, but surely they must have been set aside by someone (or at random with X in the Pit, X in section 1xx, X in section 2xx, etc...) if not they would have been available for purchase in the "other concert".

There is already a system to set aside tickets for the "Band Tickets" that the "entourage" (at large) can buy from Shelley Lazar (Bill German's "Ticket lady")...although in that case it's clearly not random, i.e. best tickets in each category!

United Center Guest Relations office advises they'll have a dedicated area and/or ticket windows specifically for the $85 tickets.

FWIW, their information is a strict two ticket per household limit - purchaser and guest.

That is the dumbest ticketing policy I have ever heard. A strict two ticket per household? So, if you're a father and both of your sons are hardcore Stones fans, you have to pick only one of them to go with you? Absolutely ridiculous. I don't believe it for a second.

I feel for you brother but it really isn't that bad of a policy. Most tickets are sold in pairs although some people love going alone and others love to buy larger batches. Back in 2005 I took 5 friends to see the Stones in Chicago. We had a blast, had good seats, no problems. However, if any of them want to go, they'll have to go in pairs via lottery, and it'll be an adventure.

Beats the heck out of $1200 for a pair!

Honestly I wish they had this policy for the whole dang show. Scalpers would be screwed unless they song singles. Then you'd have to sit with the scalper!

Stones have employed a two ticket limit before, most recently at Le Trabendo.

So, are we to assume that since the links to the $85 specials remain open that the gods will release some more from time to time? I keep checking for Chicago.

Hope springs eternal.

I do too. The Stones are not stupid. They know the score, they have seen how it goes when they sell tickets for lower prices, they see the scalpers, with no intention of going to the show resell the ticket for triple quadruple 10 times face value... If people are willing to pay up, and it appears they are, then why shouldnt that money go to The Stones?

So if the Stones are willing to offer some fans lower priced tickets it is perfectly accetpable that they do what it takes to make sure scalpers dont abuse the situation.

I just call things like I see them, and sometimes that can get me in trouble, for disagreeing with people... but... I call it like I see it, and that can change, I am willing to say I was wrong if it is pointed out... or...

As much as I was one of the people posting about the high prices(not saying they were greedy, more just saying "Jagger wouldnt pay those prices" )... I will also be one the first people to give props to The Stones for doing these $85.00 tickets... and it seems most everyone who was distressed about the high prices was indeed able to get the low priced tickets (of course people had to properly follow instcuctions for the tickets to come up).

Anyway...
The $85.00 tickets show that they listen and understand.... I am very impressed with my Stones.

I apologize if someone already posted this info earlier. Here is my question: For the Citibank presale, are all price ranges available? Or, is the $85 price saved for the general sale?

I understand why the $85 tickets should be saved for the general sale. I plan to try for the presale through Citibank. I guess if I am fortunate to score tickets I can always try to score two more on the general sale and sell the others. Curious to see if anyone who purchased tickets to the other shows had an opportunity to buythe cheap seats during the Citibank presale/

Actually I just got a refund for my two tickets to June 3rd.. So yes, you will find tickets trickle out. I'd keep checking if I were you. Pure luck at this point, but who knows... They might release another wave of seats if all the $600 seats do not sell out. AND, I predict that they do NOT sell out all the $600 seats. Right now you can easily get anything $450+, which makes sense.

No they were not. The $85 tickets (as you can see on rollingstones.com/tickets) are listed in a separate link from the general onsale. There was never an opportunity during the presale. Trust me, I looked!

Oh man, I bet you will live to regret giving those back.
You will see them twice, and you will know they are playing again, and the only thing better than 2 in a row Stones is 3 in a row... and knowing that you had cheap tickets? And you gave them back> Uh oh.

I am happy for all who have scored such tickets, but I hope you have read the restrictions as follows:

Rollingstones.com Offer (Click ? for Important Restrictions)
Over 1000 $85 seats available in the pit and throughout the arena. Strict anti-scalper measures will ensure that the tickets go to Stones fans and not the resale market. Sold only in pairs with seat location revealed night-of-show. Pick-up tickets night of show only, in person, with Picture ID, confirmation number, and the credit card used at purchase. Once you have the tickets in hand, you will be escorted into the arena. Any reselling or transfer of these tickets will void them with no refund.

Just be sure that you know about it.

Wow, so nowadays, "scoring" a normally priced ticket means jumping right into the middle of a James Bond movie. I am sure Al-Kaida will be happy once they get to know that the CIA will be busy taikng care of the secret maneuvres around The Rolling Stones shows this summer.

Sad to say that they have to take these measures. Cheap tickets meant to say thank you to loyal fans would otherwise be bought up by scalpers and sold for thousands.

I wonder if the first few rows will all be $85?

Re: Just be aware and sure with the 85$ Tickets

Any anti-scalping measure is fine by me. Various acts have implemented similar measures in recent years, there was an interesting article (I think I posted it in one of the threads here) not that long ago in which Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails discussed similar steps he has taken to try and cut out the brokers. I haven't heard of anything so far that would work on a large scale, as in all tickets for a show or tour, just stuff like this, for a certain portion of the tickets, mainly the ones meant "for the fans". It's a little late in the game now, since even if this isn't the last tour, it's probably one of the last, but a ticketing system through a fan club like what Pearl Jam has (although they have plenty of foul ups in the actual selling process with their mom and pop system) would probably help. Not sure if they've ever done that in the past. But with a fan club ticketing system I think you ensure fans get tickets, then they wouldn't have to worry so much about general public sales.

Still what does a "loyal fan" has to do with low ticket prices?
So I am not loyal because I can scratch out more than 85 bucks$?

I think one should stop with such filthy arguments. It's the same as the band was better with M. Taylor or B. Jones which hardly anybody as seen on stage on this forum.

Once again I am very happy for those who scored such tickets and I wish them good seats in the house. But I am also happy for those who shell out much more and have the right for a guaranteed seat or Pit.
