Saturday will live long in the memory crumbling mice

The only thing I was worried about was if it rained like it did for U2 in 2011, thankfully it doesnt look like that will be the case. Hard to explain just how good then place is in comparison to any other festival ive been to - the vibe and buzz is on a different level

Really thought The Stones ship had sailed Glastonbury wise thankfully thats not the case. Bowie, Macca, U2 and Bruce have all headlined the only glaring big name missing was The Stones.....and on Saturday night that will be put to bed

The greatest rock and roll band of all time on the iconic pyramid headlining the biggest festival in the world.................does it get any better than that?!

in a word....no! I've been to festivals, gigs etc for nearly 40 years and nothing gets close to the atmosphere at Glastonbury. The weather does play a big part in this as we experienced with U2, but it will go down as an epic im sure. Looking forward to seeing the phoenix on top of the pyramid, no band to date has done anything like that.

Were you at Knebworth, Crumbling? I remember getting there the night before and having a whale of a time. A whole load of us smoked something mental like 100 spliffs between us from getting there on the Friday to leaving the gig at 2am or whatever time it was. I still managed to record the gig too, some feat!!!

I didn't see the stones at one worth, but saw zeppelin on the second gig. New barbarians were one of the support acts which was a bonus. It was an amazing day, ended up sleeping in a bed of nettles in one worth park!

There are no restrictions on cameras at Glasto, so it will be fine.

He (Mick) told the magazine: "Festivals are great to be at, but not always the easiest things to play... You've got to try and make sure that first number really cooks... That first number's got to be something you're super-confident with. It's no good doing a slightly unknown number that the audience isn't gonna deal with."

Guess it will be Start Me Up or Jumpin' Jack Flash then.

Interesting quote: "The frontman, who picks new acts to duet with, also told the magazine: "I like to be a bit more open-minded about things. I think Keith [Richards] sees the Rolling Stones as very much a conservative rock band. As he's got older his ideas have become more conservative."

And thankfully so, let me add!!

Which is why Keith hasn't written a relevant, worthy rock number for the Stones canon in 20 years. They all sound like retreads of earlier work.

JJF will probably be one of the encore songs unless they dramatically chnage the set list order from the US tour

they don't have to dramatically change anything, just move JJF from the end to #1. They can handle that pretty easily.

On another subject Mark Fisher said in Mojo magazine that they are adapting the 50 and counting lips stage for use at Glasto. I wonder how that will work?

They did a similar thing at IOW, which involved the Stones technicians coming in and building it overnight.

Shame I can't be with you lucky guys. I'll be having a party at home.

I'd prefer not to have SMU as the opener, but it is the logical choice for the band. Playing to a mixed audience, needing to open with something everybody knows whilst at the same time not using one of your traditional encore songs. Of course they could turn it on it's head and blast in with Satisfaction - that would have the desired effect, but I do think SMU's lyric is more likely to make it the first choice.

I'm pretty sure we will hear Ruby Tuesday and I'd be surprised if they include CYHMK, although I would love to see/hear this. I'm hoping they don;t play it completely safe and throw in a few gems from the past to appease those hard core Stones fans present.

Whatever the set list I am sure it will be an amazing night which will go down in Glasto folk lore.
