Stones with Muddy Waters in 1978

I know it's a long shot.....Is there somebody with tape recordings from the Live Jam session from The Stones with Muddy Waters and Willy Dixon? They played together on 09-07-1978 in Chicago. So NOT the 1981 gig.

Potted Shrimp
Interesting but I've never heard of this before. There is no mention of this in The Complete Muddy Waters Discography by Phil Wight & Fred Rothwell. Where did you read about this?

Nico says this about it (and he's pretty accurate):

780709A 9th July: MUDDY WATERS. Chicago, Illinois, Quiet Night Club
The Stones jam with Muddy Waters, Willie Dixon, Pinetop Perkins & band
One of the line-ups: KR (gtr)/MJ (voc)/RW (bass)/CW (dr)/Muddy Waters (gtr, voc)

En straks zeker weer om de tape zeuren (disc II slaat trouwens bij bijna alle nummers over......valt ook niet mee 'branden'!)

I bet it was a mess. Otherwise the Stones would be hanging their hat on it. They don't respect much, but they respect Muddy Waters.

They respect him so much that no one dared to correct him when Muddy called their drummer "Ernie". The drummer himself didn't mind at all, quite contrary.

But ain't that Ernie a great drummer?

It was well after midnight, so it must be the 9th. They played Soldier Field right before this gig!

I was that for an half year or so. Originally as "Doxa" but for some reason it was changed to that (which I hated)- which I recall was password or real name or something - by the site. There was some odd hassle at the time (or I fvcked things by myself). "Rorty" comes from my favourite philosopher - an American pragmatist thinker Richard Rorty. But I never want to be called by that name - it feels shameful even now when the name occurs...

I don't think I have ever listened to this. This would be very interesting to listen to if any recordings exist. And that philosopher, Richard Rorty - now I must look him up too...

the 81 gig with muddy was a mess...you think 78 might have been even messier?

I dont think 1978 was a mess since Keith used. The real mess began when he replaced smack with booze.

booze and rock don't mix well. you need smack to reach your full potential.
